The breathtaking waste of batteries in disposable vapes
Analysis: The use of lithium batteries in disposable vapes represents an enormous waste of valuable materials with staggering environmental costs Disposable vapes have become incredibly popular worldwide. Why the EU's 2035 ban on petrol and diesel cars doesn't matter
Analysis: increased production costs means car manufacturers are already phasing out these models far ahead of 2035 ban There has been considerable reporting and discussion around the banning of petrol/diesel and hybrid cars from 2035 within the EU. Some of the points raised are valid and relate to the initial purchase cost of electric cars, as well as charging infrastructure, and these issues need to be addressed in order to achieve mass adoption.
What is a virtual power plant?
Analysis: virtual power plants are essential if we are to diversify our power grid, maintain reliability and reduce the risk of price shocks Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are essential if we are to diversify our grid and maintain reliability. Here we will consider what they are, how they work, and what this could mean for you as a consumer. Manufacturers are currently spending hundreds of million of euro to achieve single digit efficiency gains. This is because a more efficient vehicle can travel further using a smaller battery pack.
Why electric SUVs are a bad idea
Analysis: our passion for SUVs threatens to undermine the major gains from electric cars and electrification won't solve the problem The argument for electrified transport is clear. We need to drastically cut our emissions to limit the impacts of climate change and to protect local air quality.
