Max Baer vs. Tony Galento
Well, I disagree with you on one thing. I find this a very entertaining fight. It is even more entertaining if one is good at reading lips. Two obvious points. This is the first film I have seen in which Baer is the more skilled fighter. And this is the only film I have seen of Baer in which he is not the dirtiest fighter in the ring. Galento managed to commit every foul possible. The referee seemed content to let the two fellows have at it.

Who is your favorite ex-boxer turned color commentator?
Malignaggi was always good on Sky until the woke corporates there got rid of him. ''We've gotta stop looking for opportunities to give Bellew rounds guys.'' A great quote during Usyk vs Bellew as Haye and Froch pretended Bellew was winning the fight. Jim Watt was always brilliant. In all honesty, almost all the other ex-pros I've heard doing commentary were the absolute dregs.
William Walker said: ↑ Expectation: I ain't gonna lie. I've seen this fight more than a few times. This content is protected Description: 1. Nothing to report. Some of these Main Event clips can be so brief. I can't even award the round to anyone, although newspapers of the day indicate Johnson. 4. An extreme hesitation to mix. Moore missed with a CRAZY shot, almost touching down, haha. Johnson. 5.
Jack Dempsey vs. Cowboy Lutrell
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by William Walker, . This content is protected 1. Dempsey brutalized Lutrell all through the round. It seemed almost a no-holds barred affair as I once saw Dempsey strike down upon Lutrell's neck with his elbow. 2. The 2nd was wild. Dempsey held and hit all the way through. At one point he stood behind a dazed Lutrell, punching him. A left hook put Lutrell down on one knee. Jack was right in with a left that put Lutrell down instantly in the corner.
Battling Siki vs. Georges Carpentier
Both Carpentier (in his final biography) and Siki (at the time) agree that the fight was planned ahead of time as a fix. And they both claim they were double crossed. If these claims are to be believed**, they had agreed to disregard the rules of the game and fight according to their own private set of rules, so any outcome is okay with me. Siki was PO'd because he felt Georges had violated their pre-fight agreement to go easy, so who's to say he was wrong in what he did?
Jack Johnson vs. Tommy Burns
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by William Walker, . Continuing with my return to boxing, I watched this one last night shortly after watching Tommy Burns beat down Gunner Moir. I knew Johnson was about to change boxing history, but didn't know in what fashion it would happen. It was a slow bout, with Burns constantly bulling his way inward only to be tied up.
Gus Lesnevich vs. Freddie Mills I
The British seem to have been into filming their top matches more than the Americans after the war. I don't know if we have Lesnevich filmed in a fight in the states in the 1940's, even though he was the champion through most of the decade. Mills looks a middling mauler. Lesnevich appears stylistically better, but is stocky for his weight, and looked very vulnerable to overhand rights.
Good underrated and overlooked fight: Gene Tunney vs. Jack Dempsey I
Good god. A close fight? Seriously, what are you watching in some of these. Tunney took every round of this fight. He had Dempsey's face grotesquely cut and swollen, which can be seen in ringside photographs. Dempsey himself had to be led by his handlers to ring center to congratulate Tunney. The radio announcer, Major J.
