Understanding RDS Cost
Amazon RDS is a fully managed database service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Being PostgreSQL-based, it is promoted as an easy way to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. And unsurprisingly, such promises draw many PostgreSQL fans. At least, that is, until their database grows, and so does their RDS cost. At Timescale, we’ve seen many users migrating from Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL after their RDS costs grew uncontrollably.
Four patterns we see in growing nonprofit newsrooms
At the American Journalism Project, our Learning and Impact team helps us understand the impact of our work and the ways our grantees have an impact in their communities and help solve the local news crisis. The urgency of growth for nonprofit news
This time last year we were reviewing proposals from those organizations. Now we again are looking at where our next set of investments will be, informed by our learning cohort and responsive to a changed landscape for local news. Last year, we were excited about growth opportunities, and indeed our grantees are deepening and expanding the journalism they are doing with and for the communities they serve. Now we urgently insist on a vision for growth. Why?
