Widespread elevated hyperpolarized 13 C-lactate and 13 C-bicarbonate signal in the brain of patients with brain metastases undergoing treatment
Abstract Patients with brain metastases (BMs) experience altered neurological function due to cancer itself and treatment effects. Brain alterations may be underpinned by dysregulated cellular metabolism that can be measured with hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate magnetic resonance imaging (HP [1-13C]pyruvate MRI). HP [1-13C]pyruvate MRI was used to detect altered brain metabolism in the normal appearing brain parenchyma of patients with BMs compared with healthy controls.

The transformative role of SBRT in the management of spinal metastases
Abstract Spinal metastases can cause disabling pain and neurological deterioration and have historically been treated with palliative intent and conventional external beam radiotherapy (cEBRT). A fundamental shift away from the short-term palliative goals associated with cEBRT has taken place over the past two decades following the availability of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT).
Frontiers | Case Report: Rare meets rare—miliary prostate cancer brain metastasis
1 Introduction Miliary brain metastasis (MM), also termed “carcinomatous encephalitis”, is a type of cerebral metastasis characterized by small and innumerable foci predominantly observed in a perivascular distribution in the gray and white matter (1, 2). Patients with MM typically present with seizures, hemiparesis, and cognitive impairment (1–3).
Spine SBRT in Geriatric Patients: Implications of Age and Dose on Iatrogenic Vertebral Compression Fracture Risk
Keywords geriatric oncology stereotactic body radiotherapy radiotherapy side effects Introduction Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for spinal metastases has been shown to provide durable local control and a higher rate of complete pain relief compared with conventional external beam radiotherapy (cEBRT).1,2 It is also increasingly used in trials for those with oligo-metastatic disease.3,4 However, the high dose used in spine SBRT is also associated with greater rates of serious adverse...
Dose Escalated Radiotherapy is Associated with Improved Outcomes for High Grade Meningioma
Abstract : The optimal modern radiotherapy (RT) approach after surgery for atypical and malignant meningioma is unclear. We present results of dose-escalation in a single institution cohort spanning 2000-2021. : Consecutive patients with histopathologic grade 2 or 3 meningioma treated with RT were reviewed. A dose-escalation cohort [≥66Gy equivalent dose in 2 Gy fractions using an a/b=10 (EQD2)], was compared to a standard dose cohort (<66Gy).
