Home efficiency and renewables trading could solve Tasmania's energy bill problem
The need to reduce household energy bills was a key issue in the Tasmanian elections on March 23. One proposal to achieve cost reductions involved refocusing Tasmania’s hydroelectricity generation towards local use rather than energy exports to Australia’s mainland.
Kicking gas and electrifying households can slash energy bills by billions a year
The financial case for fast electrification continues to gain strength, with growing evidence that it could slash energy bills for Australians and expedite the transition to renewables. Efficient electric appliances are cheaper than gas appliances when considering the full costs over their lifespan. In Victoria, IEEFA calculated that an average household would save about $1,200 each year if it replaced its gas appliances with efficient electric alternatives at the end of their life.
Sawing starts - FSMdirect
Whether soft or hard or anywhere in between, metal materials present unique cutting issues. And that’s why it’s important to understand a material’s characteristics long before the first cut is made. By doing so, fabricators can create the best opportunity to achieve the longest bandsaw blade life and the best production results from their sawing operations. Fortunately, it’s not necessary to have a degree in metallurgy to understand a material’s characteristics.
Tips to successfully saw and select blades for nonferrous materials
Nonferrous materials (those that do not contain an appreciable amount of iron) are generally chosen because of their various properties. In most instances, they are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, highly conductive, and nonmagnetic. However, these materials present their own set of unique cutting issues. It is helpful to know upfront what you may encounter when sawing these materials. That’s the first step in figuring out how to address and overcome the challenges of cutting nonferrous materials.

How Does Microsoft Do DevOps
How Does Microsoft Do DevOps Abel How Does Microsoft Do DevOps So, just how does Microsoft do DevOps? I get asked this all the time. The answer is a little bit complex because to really understand how Microsoft does DevOps, you need to understand where Microsoft was in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. And just what kind of changes we had to go through to truly embrace a DevOps world.

AzureFunBytes Short - Cloud Shell
November 23rd, 2020 The Azure Cloud Shell is one of my favorite things about using Azure. Many of the administrative tasks that I may have had to run from a local computer can now be done from a browser anywhere I can authenticate into my Azure account. I used to always worry about needing a computer that had a shell or a terminal program with my ssh key on it all the time. Now, I keep much of this on my Azure Cloud Shell on my local computer so I can work pretty much anywhere.

AzureFunBytes Short - Azure Containers (Kubernetes, Container Instances, More)
November 19th, 2020 Containers provide an easy way to run batch jobs without having to manage an environment and dependencies. Dynamic compute options, such as Azure Container Instances (ACI), can be used to efficiently ingest source data, process it, and place it in a durable store such as Azure Blob storage. A container virtualizes the underlying OS and causes the containerized app to perceive that it has the OS—including CPU, memory, file storage, and network connections—all to itself.

Take the day off
Sometimes you need to remind yourself that through all of the madness in the world, you can take the day off. I travel a lot, I meet people, I spend time discussing Azure as a part of my role as a Cloud Advocate. Since returning from Microsoft Ignite | The Tour in Copenhagen, I've been in New York City in about. a quarter mile space. Thanks to the work I am able to do, I am thriving by creating blog posts on dev.to, making YouTube videos and helping people learn about technology.
Prolong band saw blade life cutting structural shapes
The right blade can make a big difference The FABRICATOR September 2019 August 30, 2019 By Jay Gordon There’s no getting around it. Sawing structural materials involves interrupted cutting. In almost all cases, the blade is engaged in a cut for a very short time compared to the overall size of the material. This also makes critical tooth selection difficult. Typically, structural shapes require cutting different widths with the same blade.

A Brief History of the Tech Behind RAB
Jay has been RAB’s SysAdmin, you can find him on Twitter at @jaydestro. Keeping RiverAveBlues online has been “a thing” for me over the years. Whether it’s when I worked at a web hosting provider and was just a fan of Mike’s writing… all the way until today, where I am getting ready to start archiving the site I’ve done my best to keep available. Back in 2009, I did a ton of technical work for free for the guys to make sure the website stayed online and ran smoothly.

How long can breast milk stay unrefrigerated?
A: It's hard to believe that milk can stay out of the refrigerator and not go bad, but when it comes to breast milk, it's true. That's because mother's milk is an antibiotic of sorts, capable of killing many bacteria and viruses. That said, even though some experts say breast milk can be kept at normal room temperature for up to eight hours without the danger of bacterial growth, I'm not comfortable with leaving it unrefrigerated for more than four to six hours.
Two Weeks On The Road
So I have been traveling a lot for work lately and the hot stove really hasn’t been really a priority. I was in Vegas the week after Thanksgiving when most of the talk around the Yankees was “Who’s the Manager” and “What about Ohtani?” News was mostly silly chatter about potential candidates and what a failure Brian Cashman was beginning to look like in his “bungling” of the Joe Girardi situation. It’s kinda funny though what can happen in a week.
