Julia Luz Betancourt

Julia Luz Betancourt is an independent journalist based in New York. Her work has appeared in Truthout, the Latin Times, GEN-ZiNE, Scheerpost and Z Network.

Julia began their career as an intern at the Financial Times, where they produced newsletters and social media content for daily and climate news and led a project to diversify the FT's audience. They are currently a staff member at YES! Media, where they co-lead audience development and provide original writing and reporting on a variety of topics.

Julia is actively pursuing stories about people and communities who organize against social and political injustice or challenge cultural norms that halt collective progress, as well as stories that center marginalized experiences and perspectives.
