Interview
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Walter Burns (Cary Grant), His Girl Friday
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Everything.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
#qanda is always a laugh.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Without facades.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter
Why did you become a journalist?
Out of frustration from a perceived laziness and bias in the press. I have since learned that good journalism exists, and I want to do it.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I was the managing editor and helped shift the newsroom towards a social media-first attitude.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Forget how others have built a career, that ladder doesn't exist anymore. Build your own.
When's the best time to pitch you?
After my coffee (original, I know).
