Abstract Background: Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is the leading non-traumatic cause of spinal cord dysfunction in adults, and its burden is projected to grow as populations age. Cervical radiculopathy shares the same degenerative substrate but follows a separate diagnostic pathway. Long-term national trends in the two conditions, and their relation to surgical practice, are unquantified in an East Asian system with universal coverage.
Summary No study has used measured bone mineral density (BMD) data to compare osteoporosis care gaps between women with and without cardiovascular disease. Among 5,420 postmenopausal women with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), 71.1% with osteoporosis were undiagnosed and 87.2% untreated; cardiovascular disease history did not narrow these care gaps.
