Center channel speaker recommendations to pair with JBL HDI-3800 fronts?
I can't resist the itch to add a center channel to my living room setup that is currently a 4.1 all JBL HDI configuration. I would have bought the HDI-4500 a long time ago, but the problem is that it needs to be 8 inches or less in height (ok) and around 10 inches or less in depth (unfortunately it is 12 inches deep) in order to fit on the mantle above the fireplace. Any good recommendations for alternatives that might pair well?

Was currently using Boston Acoustics T1030 (L/R Towers) , VR12 Center , T830 (Surround Towers) and PSB 25B (Heights) As I had earlier this year, sold my PSB Mains, surrounds and center. Was thinking to now move the T1030 towers to the back, as my Surrounds.

Why do movie theaters have multiple surrounds but not home theaters?
#1 · I recently added a second row of seats to my home theater and have read it is not recommended to use multiple surround speakers (for example, one pair per row). Why is this so problematic for a home theater but seems to work well in commercial cinemas? Just curious. Any way to “make it work”?

Audyssey causing distortion only with front left channel?
Having a weird issue with my Denon AVR-X3500H. With Audyssey on, my front left speaker distorts during certain clips, but when I turn Audyssey off, it goes away. It also only happens at higher volume levels, maybe around -10 (still nothing crazy). It’s strange because the issue only seems to have started with a new pair of speakers (Philharmonic BMR), but after a lot of testing the issue seems to be isolated to just that left front channel. The front right channel is fine with both speakers.
Question on JTR Noesis 210RM for LCR or 212RT or 212HTR
#1 · Hi, I have a an order in place with JTR for three Noesis 210RM to be used behind ATS as LCR. Question: if money is not a problem , will you upgrade to three 212RT or 212HTR? I am just curious to find out if the upgrade is worth it or 210RM is enough. I have two dedicated Subs already. I listen to a lot music as well. Any advice will be appreciated. Wood grain tower recommendations for bedroom (<$5k)
#1 · After a glorious experience with the JBL HDI-3800s in my living room (bought during the Harman mystery sale), I've decided to move away from black box HT speakers w/subs for my bedroom (admittedly overkill) and go with more traditional, WAF friendly towers that extend "well enough". I was tempted to just get another pair of 3800s but think I'd value variety long-term. With that in mind, having grown to favor compression drivers, I'm now open to other flavors of speaker for this space.

White surround speakers that can be angled down and forward
What are some good options for white surround speakers that can be angled diagonally? These will be placed behind and above the MLP in living room/kitchen area. I know there are some outdoor speakers that would work such as the Revel M55XC and M80XC, but curious if there are others below (or around) that price point that I should consider. I would go with the Chane 740s which have VESA mounting options but there are WAF issues there for this space...
Best projectors for 142” screen with less than 15’ throw distance?
Sounds like some of the better ones require a longer throw distance. I currently have an Epson 5050UB. Anything better than that?
Atmos or DTS X Demo Discs (or online downloads)
Thanks! That's amazing to be able to download all of those trailers! However, I can't seem to figure out how to get them to play in Atmos. I tried Plex through Apple TV but not Atmos. I'm on a Mac. Any ideas? They work fine on a media player using a PC you could see if you could get your hands on a Windows based PC.They will also work if you download them to a usb flash drive keeping the formats intact and playing them back on a Blu-ray player that has USB capabilities and ATMOS decoding.

Anyone know a good place to purchase demo discs with the Atmos or DTS X trailers? I feel like these used to be available on eBay at affordable prices but now they seem to be super expensive.

What’s the biggest screen size one should consider sitting 10 feet away from screen? What about 11.5 feet away? I have a unique front wall that has a 10 foot long “inlet” (18 inches deep). I can either fit a 128 inch screen in the inlet (11.5 feet away) or get something bigger (135, 150?) that overlaps the inlet altogether (10 feet away). Would 150 just be way too big that close? I can’t move seating. What are the top options for a not too expensive 150+ inch acoustically transparent screen?

Any major issues placing rear surrounds on side walls?
Designing home theater in new basement (about 19 feet wide). I can't place any speakers on stands (that could conceivably fall off) so looking to mount surrounds on the side walls. Regarding rear surrounds, the Dolby guidelines show these best positioned behind the seating position (inward from the side walls). The back wall of the room is too far back (29 feet) to mount on back walls so am thinking about placing them on the side walls as shown below. Any major issues with this approach?

Evaluating surround options for new living room (pics below). Wife won't permit stands or floorstanding (insane, imo). Regular on-walls would probably fly, but unfortunately on left side of room there's no "wall" where the speaker would go - just an entry way. The walls on each side of entry way are not in line with the wall on the opposite side of room.
Two vs. Four Ceiling Atmos Speakers - how big of a deal?
When I originally tried Atmos, I went with 5.1.2. I enjoyed it, but wanted better panning from the front to the back. I added 2 more speakers within a month for 5.1.4. The difference was impressive and well worth it.

Rewrapping acoustic panels?
Good choice of color fabrics from Guilford of Maine. Two popular fabrics are FR701 or Anchorage line. On their site they post the acoustical transparancy ratings of the fabrics and they also rate a group of fabrics as "acoustical" You can actually have your pick of many. You can order the fabric from GIK but many vendors sell it. Free samples on the Manufacturers site. Try peeling off the fabric. If it is impossible just wrap a new fabric over the old. GIK has an 8 yard minimum, that may be too much.

I've been looking at the Emotiva BasX A3, Outlaw 5000X, OSD Nero-XA3200 - and more recently have seen some positive comments around Buckeye amps. Am I on the right track here? Anything else I should take a look at? Appreciate all the advice I can get.

Currently own a pair of Rythmik LV12F subs which are too big to fit under my screen (18" from the floor) in my basement HT. 2.1 vs 3.1 Living Room Setup - How important is a center channel?

I recently snagged a good deal on an Infinity Reference R12 sub which, interestingly, brought the Triangles to “life” even more. Now I’m pondering adding the Triangle Borea BRC1 center channel but am debating the value of this.

I will have my side surrounds on stands that will consume 15 inches each, leaving me with about 10 feet, 4 inches in between them. Primarily, it will just be my wife and I, but we'd like to try to accommodate seating for more, but am not sure how to pull that off given space constraints. Looking at everything from couches to theater seating (love seat style for the wife and I).

The main reason was to accommodate a projector and larger screen, but also want to upgrade the sound system a bit. Below is a picture of what the basement will look like.
