What was your first job as a journalist?

Writing a column for a free weekly downtown newspaper.

It is placing an importance on speed over accuracy which is not a good thing.

A love for words and story-telling.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Broaden your reach. I wrote for the business section for two years. It was a great diversion from sports and opened other doors.
