Hidden Toe Welds in RHS-to-RHS Overlapped K-Connections
Abstract The effects of hidden toe welds on the static behavior and strength of rectangular hollow sections to rectangular hollow sections (RHS-to-RHS) overlapped K-connections is investigated. Five full-scale welded specimens with a high overlap ratio were fabricated and tested under quasistatic loading in a universal testing machine, with the existence of hidden toe welds and branch loading condition varied.
RHS-to-RHS Zero-Gap K-Connections
Technical Papers Abstract The design of a rectangular hollow-section K-connection in which the branches are welded toe-to-toe to the chord is not permitted at present in design guides and codes. To illustrate the feasibility of such connections, two full-scale cold-formed welded rectangular hollow-section K-connection laboratory tests, including one control specimen and one zero-gap specimen, are presented.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Bare and Strengthened Wide-Flange Sections Subject to Near-Field Blast Loading
Downloaded 0 times Technical Papers Abstract When a wide-flange section is exposed to close-in detonation, local and global deformation modes are developed due to a complex nonuniform pressure environment. The local deformation includes local distortion and rotation of the flanges, as well as deformation of the web, or even breaching near the web/flange junction.
Laterally Offset RHS X-Connections
Downloaded 0 times Technical Papers Abstract The design of welded rectangular hollow section (RHS) truss-type connections, in which branches are laterally offset from the chord centerline, is not included in any of the current design codes and standards. To provide design recommendations for this type of connection, a series of studies have been performed on cold-formed welded RHS-to-RHS X-connections with branch lateral offset.

Flexural Behavior of Concrete-Filled Double-Skin Tubes Subject to Blast Loading
Large-scale tests on concrete-filled double-skin tubes, composed of pairs of concentric cold-formed rectangular hollow section members with the annulus between them filled with grout, are performed under air-blast loading. The recorded data from the field tests, along with further laboratory experimentation, are used to validate numerical models developed for single-degree-of-freedom and explicit finite-element analysis.
Fracture characteristics of laboratory-tested soda lime glass specimens
Static testing of glass plates has shown a pronounced distribution in the plate strength. The origin of fracture location along the plate span, the corresponding critical tensile stress, and the size of the critical flaw at the origin of fracture are failure characteristics of major importance.
