LA is a city for lovers and hustlers
The saying goes, “New York is the city that never sleeps.” Bragging about pulling 80-hour work weeks, investing in a start-up and single-handedly keeping Dunkin’ in business, all while being in their second year of law school, New York hustlers are seemingly superhuman. As a native New Yorker myself, I grew up surrounded by these hustlers and yearned to be one.
The limbo of being 21
As I close out my undergraduate years, I have noticed that I’ve become the big kid on campus. I remember being freshly 18 and meeting seniors and thinking “God, they’re so old and wise.” But now I’m the senior, and at the ripe age of 21, I am feeling neither old nor wise. There is this strange and unsettling moment that hits when you become a college senior that seemingly everyone kept a secret, dancing on the line of feeling too young and too old all at once.
LinkedIn is meant for networking, not romance
When you think about it, Hinge and Tinder are superficial in their approach to connection: see a picture, read a soulless prompt, give a like. On the other hand, LinkedIn is more personal. You see successes and failures and strangers’ aspirations in a way that makes people seem more appealing for a first date. But recently, LinkedIn has gone from a professional networking site to a place where people get personal with their posts in an almost Facebook-like style.
Students should talk to their Lyft drivers
When 6 p.m. rolls around, no one is more excited than me to call a Shryft. After back-to-back classes and club meetings, walking around campus all day and sometimes even making a Trader Joe’s grocery run, a Shryft is is my saving grace. With my free ride home, I also get an opportunity to chat with my Lyft drivers, which is personally one of my favorite parts of the day.
