Why You Should Always Fact-Check Statistics
“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” As someone who loves research, it’s rather ironic that this is one of my favorite quotes. But spending my free time reading academic journals and other people’s commentary on academic journals makes one thing very clear: it’s not all that difficult to misrepresent data. The statistics themselves may not be a lie, but people can use them in deceitful ways.
6 Shows Canceled After One Season That Are Still Worth Watching
Some of the best shows I’ve ever watched got canceled after one season. I’m still not over it. To make myself feel better, I’ve compiled a list of some that got lost in the sea of content out there for us to consume. These shows speak for themselves, so let’s jump right in! Where to watch: Tubi No, this show is not about Batman.
The Trump Administration Is Bringing Back Abstinence-Only Sex Education
If you grew up in the American public school system, it’s more likely than not that your sex education centered around abstinence. 43 states require abstinence to be covered during health class. 31 of those states require that it be stressed over contraceptives like condoms, birth control pills, and IUDS — if they decide to teach about those at all (less than half of states require contraception to be included in the lesson plans).
How To Keep A Conversation From Becoming An Argument
When people say a word, they expect that others are working with the same definition. If we limit the context to Merriam-Webster, that may be the case, but other factors tend to complicate the matter — connotations. Every word we use has a primary meaning. However, the underlying implications often dictate how someone will respond. This can cause conversations to shut down before any real progress has been made.
The Government Is Bringing Back Abstinence-Only Sex Education
If you grew up in the American public school system, it’s more likely than not that your sex education centered around abstinence. Forty-three states require abstinence to be covered during health class. 7 Facts About Sex They Don’t Teach In Health Class
Sex education in the United States is just about the best it’s ever been… and that’s not saying much. As of 2025, 29 states and the District of Columbia mandate sex ed. Of those, only 13 require that students receive medically accurate information. Most American adults are sexually active, yet many of us are ill-informed or misinformed about what that entails. It’s up to us to learn what we were never taught in school.
Love Island: The Psychology Behind the Drama
“Love Island USA” in one word: messy. Isolate a bunch of single, young adults referred to as “Islanders” in a luxury villa in Fiji. Have them compete in simultaneously humiliating and sexualized challenges while trying to find real love. But don’t forget, they’re also competing for the chance to win $100,000 — which they cannot acknowledge unless they want to come off as a disingenuous couple to the millions of people watching and judging them.
How American Porn Habits Connect To Politics
While over half of adults in the United States watch pornography, most aren’t quick to talk about it — much less what they enjoy to watch. However, what they may not bring up in conversation shows up in the data, and that data reflects American politics. Prior to Trump’s first stint in the Oval Office, “Latina” didn’t even broach the top twenty. But the popularity of this term has risen over the past decade.
The “Friendzone” Phenomenon: Why Men Fall for Their Female Friends
The “friendzone” — from a man feeling slighted to a woman feeling reduced to little more than a sexual object. Regardless of how we view the friendzone, most of us understand what it is. But how many of us know why it comes about? As early as age 2, children begin to gravitate towards the same gender when forming friendships. Science may not be able to pinpoint whether this preference is because of nature or nurture (or both), but .
What You Need to Know Before Having Sex in a College Dorm
Sex may be a typical human experience, but college dorms are an atypical environment for it. Basically, shit gets complicated: students are cockblocked by RA room checks, walked in on by suitemates, “sexiled” to the common room—just to name a few. And yet, our sex lives live on. More than two-thirds of college students are sexually active. And that’s not taking into account solo masturbation, the most common sexual behavior among students.

How Dark Romance Is Pushing The Boundaries Of Consent
Nearly two-thirds of American women have fantasized about a forced sexual encounter. As common as the fantasy is, fewer people are likely to act on it in real life. Many find other means to satisfy this sexual curiosity. Lately, that mode of satisfaction has taken the form of a literary genre known as dark romance. Dark romance is an evolving genre that has solidified its standards into something particularly extreme over the past decade or so.
