What was your first job as a journalist?

My first experience was doing work experience for Girlfriend magazine, followed by an internship writing about 'ethical food' for OXFAM.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email me. Two or three sentences (no media releases please).

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter.

Why did you become a journalist?

I always had an interest in other peoples' stories and lives. I'm genuinely curious about how others see the world.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Morning - pre-8am.

What's your favorite drink?

Soy latte.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On the phone!

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The Economist, Foreign Affairs, Vanity Fair, MiNDFOOD, The New York Times, LOTL

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it's all about statistics - some of it is, but it's far more to do with how we live our lives.
