Interview

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Are any of us actually real? Truth can be stranger than fiction. We are who we create- for the good and the bad.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

You have to always be open & aware of the world happenings. You have to care even when others don't. You have to give others a reason to care

What's your favorite social network?

It used to be Twitter. Now it's Bsky because being more in control over one's content moderation capacities is critical as a journalist.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did! I helped design & write news stories on a variety of issues. I have always seemed to have a penchant for journalism.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

All my socially connected pieces are important to me, but the ones where I write about victim rights & families of decedents are my home.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Research, research, research! It's one thing to have an opinion but it's so key to do the work & research completely before hitting send.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I am likely out and about exploring art, tech, academia, & drinking tasty bevvies (beer/cocktails/tea) with my attached notebook & a pen.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Wired, Atlas Obscura, Jstor Daily, Smithsonian Magazine, The New Yorker are my tops. Vanity Fair is also very high up there.
