What was your first job as a journalist?

After I moved to a small town in Alaska I dropped my fear, found my creative voice, and began putting curiosity to paper.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

In warming climes, times of shifting sands call for ultimate seekers of truth. For free speech from the heart about what it means to be human

Laptop, notebook, time in nature.

Why did you become a journalist?

To speak truth to power.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I wrote a a story about my first encounter with an Alaskan brown bear for a magazine whose tagline is In Defense of Wild Animals.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Follow your curiosity and seek the truth.

Melted glacier water

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

My writing tends towards the spiritual and speculative, yet my foundation is scientific.
