Speaking to Edge magazine, the Epic Game CEO described a business under pressure from two directions at once. The first is the ballooning cost of making AAA games. The second relates to a global hardware shortage driven by AI companies and data centers hoovering up the same components that the games industry depends on. He called it an unexpected, severe disruption.
Netflix Greenlights ‘Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery,’ a New Chapter in the Manifest Universe
Netflix has given a green light to a new spin-off series Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery. This somewhat clunky title is of course a reference to the Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh-starring Manifest, the Lost-esque sci-fi series that originally ran on NBC for 3 seasons, before being picked up by Netflix for a fourth final season. The original series followed the passengers and crew of Montego Air Flight 828, who discover upon landing that their plane was reported missing five years ago.
HBO Max Greenlights ‘The People V. Gorilla Grodd’
Here’s a new take on the DC universe. HBO Max has given a straight-to-series order for a new half hour comedy The People V Gorilla Grodd. Now before you throw She Hulk at me, I should add that the new half-hour comedy will air as an eight-part true crime docuseries, with The Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) reopening the case into whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis’ most famous murder trials.

Control Resonant Comes to San Diego Comic Con
Remedy Entertainment has announced that the cast of its upcoming game Control Resonant will appear at San Diego Comic-Con next weekend, offering fans a chance to hear directly from the actors behind the sequel ahead of its September release. ‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’ Review: A Confident and Sharply Cast Thriller from Apple TV
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge whoever is behind casting on Apple TV’s Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, because without this particular core and supporting cast the show would not be half as engaging or funny as it is. The somewhat (and perhaps unnecessarily?) provocatively titled series launched on the streamer on May 20 with two opening episodes, to be followed by single-episode weekly drops until the finale on July 8.
‘Demon Lord: Just a Block’ Review: Worth Losing Your Head Over
Instantly evocative of 80’s icon The Legend of Zelda, and 2019’s Slay the Spire, Demon Lord: Just a Block is both insanely cute and fiendishly addictive. While neither an RPG nor a roguelike deckbuilder (it’s actually a turn-based roguelite), it’s hard to believe this April 29 Steam drop was built by one developer in just one year. Everything from code to design to art was crafted by indie developer Yuwave, who cites The Legend of Zelda titles as his favorite game series.
