Decentralization of Cybersecurity Takes Off : @VMblog
Industry executives and experts share their predictions for 2025. Read them in this 17th annual VMblog.com series exclusive. By Jerome Robert - Co-founder and CEO, Symbiotic Security I believe we'll see that 2025 marks a pivotal year with the industry fully embracing decentralized risk management in cybersecurity. This shift began years ago, driven by increasingly complex infrastructures that exceed the capacity of single security teams to manage effectively.
Don’t Trust Security in AI-Generated Code
Speaking from more than 20 years of experience in development and cybersecurity, developers need to use all the cutting-edge, time-saving, and productivity-boosting tools. It’s meticulous, time-consuming work to ensure you commit to high-quality, functional code, and the software development life cycle always demands more. As such, nowadays, almost all developers use some form of AI-generated code — and they absolutely should.
Think like the enemy: the ‘imagined’ life and times of a ransomware retiree
Cognizant reportedly spent up to $70 million to remediate a Maze ransomware attack. Today’s columnist, Jerome Robert of Alsid, offers a fictitious account of what motivated the Maze operators and theorizes why they closed shop. Transendothelial transport of lipoproteins
Highlights • The endothelium limits the entry and exit of lipoproteins into and from the arterial wall, respectively. • SR-BI, activin like kinase 1, and caveolin-1 as well as GPER and sphingosine-1-phosphate regulate the transcytosis of LDL. • SR-BI, ABCG1, endothelial lipase, the ecto-ATPase/P2Y-receptor axis, VEGF, IL-6/17, and S1P regulate HDL transcytosis.
Nudging your employees towards better cyber hygiene
A full 77 percent of employees surveyed recently said they weren’t worried about security when working from home and believed their organization was at relatively lower risk than their competitors. Today’s columnist, Jerome Robert of Alsid, explains this in two words: misplaced optimism. (Photo by Salvatore Laporta/KONTROLAB/LightRocket via Getty Images) It’s no coincidence that cybersecurity terminology borrows heavily from medicine: bugs, immunity, infections, and viruses.
Rifampicin and clarithromycin (extended release) versus rifampicin and streptomycin for limited Buruli ulcer lesions: a randomised, open-label, non-inferiority phase 3 trial
Summary Background Buruli ulcer is a neglected tropical disease caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans infection that damages the skin and subcutis. It is most prevalent in western and central Africa and Australia. Standard antimicrobial treatment with oral rifampicin 10 mg/kg plus intramuscular streptomycin 15 mg/kg once daily for 8 weeks (RS8) is highly effective, but streptomycin injections are painful and potentially harmful.

Sixty-three Cases of Mycobacterium marinum Infection
Abstract Background Mycobacterium marinum is a nontuberculous mycobacterium responsible for skin infections. Although cases have been seldom reported, no series of M marinum infection has been recently reported and the treatment is not standardized. Methods A national survey was conducted on culture-confirmed M marinum infections that occurred in France from January 1, 1996, to December 31, 1998.
The Endothelium Is Both a Target and a Barrier of HDL’s Protective Functions
The vascular endothelium serves as a barrier between the intravascular and extravascular compartments. High-density lipoproteins (HDL) have two kinds of interactions with this barrier. First, bloodborne HDL must pass the endothelium to access extravascular tissues, for example the arterial wall or the brain, to mediate cholesterol efflux from macrophages and other cells or exert other functions.
