What was your first job as a journalist?
Besides student journalism, my first job was as a freelancer for Omaha Magazine.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Tell stories well and accurately. And to yell truth into the void.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Photoshop, In Design, BLOX CMS, the coffee machine and waterproof shoes.

Twitter and all its ugliness.

Anyone interested in death and zoo news in Omaha, NE.
Why did you become a journalist?
To tell stories and to yell into the void.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I learned from a former journalist the all mighty inverted pyramid and AP style.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
It's hard to narrow down to one specific story. I'm proud of my obituary writing. They're the most difficult, but most important.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be adaptive and learn as much as you can.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Morning.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Out covering a shooting, car crash, fire or the birth of an adorable zoo animal.
