Beijing’s Military Diplomacy Is Making Major Gains
Reading Time: 6 minutes This article is adapted from AQ’s special report on China and Latin America For years, U.S. officials have warned about China’s growing influence in Latin America and the Caribbean. But since 2010, that reference has been elevated to a new category, as leaders from the Southern Command (Southcom) have consistently identified the competition from Beijing as a “key challenge” in every annual report presented to the Armed Services Committees of the U.S. Congress.

Hearts, Minds, and Uniforms: New Data Reveals China and Russia’s Growing Military Diplomacy Footprint in Latin America and the Caribbean
Russia’s military influence reemerged in LAC beginning in the early 2000s, as part of the “Primakov Doctrine,” which posited that Russia should level the playing field by inserting itself into the U.S. sphere of influence as reciprocity for U.S. policy in Eastern Europe.
The Importance of Educational Exchange with the Dominican Republic

Does social isolation, social support or loneliness influence health or well‐being after a cardiovascular disease event? A narrative thematic systematic review
Abstract Identification of factors which influence health after a cardiovascular disease (CVD) event will assist with reducing the high health and economic burden of CVD. We undertook a systematic review to investigate the association between social health (lower social isolation, higher social support and lower loneliness) and health and well-being after a CVD event among people living in Australia and New Zealand. Four electronic databases were systematically searched until June 2020.
