Brain Activity: Unifying networks of a rhythm
Our brains constantly receive and respond to information from the world around us. This ability largely relies on communication between different areas of the brain via networks of neurons, as well as the release of molecules known as neurotransmitters. The interplay between neural networks and neurotransmitters manifests in waxing and waning patterns of electrical activity, known as brain rhythms, which oscillate at different frequencies.
Attentional modulation of secondary somatosensory and visual thalamus of mice
During electrophysiology recordings, two PS3 Eye cameras were used to capture video of the mouse’s eye and whiskers. The whisker camera was positioned below the mouse’s head and recorded at 125 fps. The eye camera was positioned on the right side of the face and recorded at 60 fps. The OpenEphys Bonsai program was used to record video. Pupil size was measured from video offline using custom MATLAB code.
Circadian regulation of endoplasmic reticulum calcium response in cultured mouse astrocytes
eLife Assessment This work describes a circadian regulation in the expression of HERP, a regulator of endoplasmic reticulum calcium, in primary astrocytic cultures. This work is important because it highlights the potential importance of circadian rhythms in astrocytes, even though making a direct comparison between these rhythms in vitro and in vivo remains challenging. The technical approaches used in this work (RNA-seq, siRNA, Ca2+ imaging) are a solid support for data interpretation.
Circadian regulation of endoplasmic reticulum calcium response in cultured mouse astrocytes
Abstract The circadian clock, an internal time-keeping system orchestrates 24-hour rhythms in physiology and behavior by regulating rhythmic transcription in cells. Astrocytes, the most abundant glial cells, play crucial roles in central nervous system (CNS) functions, but the impact of the circadian clock on astrocyte functions remains largely unexplored. In this study, we identified 412 circadian rhythmic transcripts in cultured mouse cortical astrocytes through RNA sequencing.

Circadian regulation of endoplasmic reticulum calcium response in mouse cultured astrocytes
Abstract The circadian clock, an internal time-keeping system orchestrates 24-hour rhythms in physiology and behavior by governing rhythmic transcription within cells. Astrocyte, the most abundant glial cell type, play crucial roles in central nervous system functions. However, a detailed understanding of how the circadian clock impacts functions of astrocyte remains largely unexplored.
