Current Trans-Hysteria Mirrors Jekyll and Hyde
As a young child, my favorite activity involved going into my make-believe laboratory (a.k.a. the bathroom) and experimenting with powerful potions (empty shampoo bottles and such filled with water and soap). My big sister and I had a game we never spoke of. She would stand outside the door I’d left ajar and spy on me. I would stage-whisper to myself, “This will kill her, and she won’t even know how I did it!” A few years later, I got hooked on comic books.
THE UNCANNY CASE OF GILLES/JEANNETTE
by Jill Dearman ‧ A pointed contemporary twist on a classic horror setup. Dearman reimagines the classic tale of Jekyll and Hyde as a transition narrative in this queer horror novella. Ella is struggling with the transition of her partner, Simon (formerly Simone). Even as she tries to support him, she misses the female body that she fell in love with. The two have the opportunity to start anew when Ella inherits an old inn from her grandmother in Hudson, New York.
Erik Rebain On Nathan Leopold, 99 Years After His Infamous Crime
In Chicago, on May 21st, 1924 Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb murdered 11 year-old Bobby Franks, in what was termed at the time a thrill-killing. Leopold and Loeb were both academic geniuses, sons of millionaires, and lovers. Renowned attorney and foe of capitol punishment, Clarence Darrow was able to get them “life plus 99 years” instead of the death penalty. Loeb was murdered in prison in 1936 and Leopold took charge of his own publicity and was released from prison in 1958.

What the Super Rare 2023 Blue Moon Means for Your Zodiac Sign
What on earth is the blue supermoon? Full moon and supermoon astrology are a little bit like regular astrology on steroids. But to understand why the occurrence is so special, you’ll need a little background on what a supermoon even is. See, it happens only when the moon is full during the closest point in its orbit around the big blue marble: earth. Supermoons have a larger, brighter, more magical appearance, and one is capping off the month of August this year.

The Great Bravura By Jill Dearman
13 Prose and conjurers link like a magician’s rings in this tale of midcentury mysticism. Now you “seer,” now you don’t! Think the magic word is abracadabra? Close, but no cigar—it’s abra-cadaver. Sapphic sorceress Bravura is known for her bravado and mentalist mentality. Her wife Lena, on the other hand, is imperious, mysterious, and, in the eyes of Bravura’s best pal and business manager Susie, deleterious. It’s an optical illusion, of course.
Juliana By Vanda
11 In this historical queer novel, a cosmopolitan nightclub singer takes note of an aspiring actress. Will the ingenue take her LGBT cue from the worldly warbler? What do you call a bearded lady in 1941? Alice Huffman. Straight out of high school, country gal Al is Broadway-bound and determined to make her stage presence felt. Alice is accompanied by a couple of pals, as well as her faux beau Danny. Danny may not be a thespian like Al, but they both spend an awful lot of time acting around each other.

Ferron speaks to us from her home in Three Rivers, Michigan.
Film Review: Submerge
108 A homage to Generation Y and their apparent need to want it all, Submerge takes a look at the pressure that society, friends and family place upon us to succeed, and the high expectations we have of ourselves. The film has an interesting take on the sexual fluidity of a generation not wanting to label themselves as they look to explore, experience and discover who they really are.
