At just 7 years old, MDA asked me to serve as a Goodwill Ambassador which saw me opening the live NY broadcast of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. It sparked a fascination that would eventually pave the way for my career. After five years as a DJ on 94.3 FM, I missed writing and so I created TheNerdyBird.com in 2008. My writing has appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, MTV News, Publishers Weekly, IGN, SyfyWire, and more.

In 2011, I joined geek culture site The Mary Sue and made my way up to Editor in Chief. I fostered a safe and welcoming community and made waves in the entertainment industry. In 2017, I joined io9 as its Managing Editor and was promoted to Deputy Editor in 2018, shaping its distinctive pop culture coverage, managing video production for several series, and organizing convention coverage.

I've been written about in the NY Times, Entertainment Weekly, the NY Daily News, Variety, and the NY Post, interviewed by the NY Daily News, MSNBC, G4 Interactive, and Elle Magazine, and been featured in news segments on CNN, PBS, MSNBC, and HLN as an expert in my field.

I wrote three children’s books based on MCU stories: "IncrediBuilds: Marvel: Infinity Gauntlet," "IncrediBuilds: Ant-Man and the Wasp," and "IncrediBuilds: Black Panther. I contributed to two books of essays: “Chicks Read Comics” and "Hey Kids, Comics!", wrote a comic book story in IDW's “Womanthology," and a one-page webcomic story for The Gutters. I was featured on National Geographic’s “Comic Store Heroes” and profiled in the Batman documentary, “Legends of the Knight.”
