What was your first job as a journalist?

My earliest stories were exhibition reviews for a small photography magazine.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Of course, but I really didn't start writing until after the dawn of the computer age

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Mark Twain?

Anyone and everyone with an interest in photography and media

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I was critical of errors that other writers made in articles written about my own photography projects.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I don't think we had a newspaper, but I did write some profiles of fellow students for the high school yearbook.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

It's hard to select a single story, but I'm partial to a series of articles I've written about women working in photography and media.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Check your facts!

Probably early evening

What's the best pitch you ever got?

I don't think I've received it yet!

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

I'm the one who generally pitches story ideas.

What's your favorite drink?

It's a toss up between a cup of coffee and a glass of wine

Outside

Probably The New Yorker.
