How is social media changing news?

Social media forces us as journalists to be fast, accurate and unique, which means building strong headlines and using compelling images.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Miranda Priestly. Dedicated to her job and *always* fabulous.

Why did you become a journalist?

Some stories have the potential to change our perspectives, thoughts and feelings. I want to put stories out there that make a difference.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

In my senior year, I was the Arts and Entertainment section editor. I was so proud! I loved getting to highlight the creativity of my peers.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I recently had the opportunity to visit and profile a Virginia DNA lab helping solve cold cases across the nation.
