Toward Real-Time Monitoring of Protein Biomarkers: Materials Innovations for Continuous Sensing
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Unlike many small molecules, whose fluctuations are relatively well-characterized via existing platforms (e.g., glucose monitors), the continuous monitoring of protein biomarkers has been challenging. Proteins are larger and structurally complex and may be present at low concentrations. They carry rich, actionable biomolecular information directly tied to disease progression, classification, therapeutic response, etc.
Amorphous AlPO4 Layer Coating Vacuum Thermal Reduced SiOx with Fine Silicon Grains to Enhance the Anode Stability
1 Introduction The growing demands for electric vehicles and portable electronics for reducing the charging frequency require batteries to work for a longer time after being fully charged, which has stimulated the in-depth study of lithium ion batteries (LIBs) with high energy density.[1] The commercial graphite anode is a kind of well-established material with the limited specific capacity of 372 mAh g−1, which makes it hard to achieve the requirements of high energy density LIBs.[2]...
Hail to Daniell Cell: From Electrometallurgy to Electrochemical Energy Storage
Daniell cell is the first battery to be used in practice and is considered to be the first practice of electrometallurgy, which is the bridge connecting electrometallurgy and electrochemical energy storage.
Nanofluid Electrolyte with Fumed Al2O3 Additive Strengthening Zincophilic and Stable Surface of Zinc Anode toward Flexible Zinc-Nickel Batteries
Revealing the role of crystal orientation of protective layers for stable zinc anode
Abstract Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries are a promising candidate for next-generation energy storage devices. However, their practical application is limited by the severe safety issue caused by uncontrollable dendrite growth on zinc anodes. Here we develop faceted titanium dioxide with relatively low zinc affinity, which can restrict dendrite formation and homogenize zinc deposition when served as the protective layer on zinc anodes.

Adjusting the Yolk-shell Structure of Carbon Spheres to Boost the Capacitive K+ Storage Ability
Carbon materials continue to be a focus of rapid innovative applications on potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) owing to their abundant resources. However, K storage of carbon electrodes is limited by intercalation chemistry which brings a large structural change and sluggish potassiation kinetics. In this work, we synthesized series of hierarchical porous yolk-shell carbon spheres (HYCS) materials through the extended Stöber reaction.
