ABSTRACT Over the years, the use of adhesive joints has become more widespread due to their competitive characteristics compared to more common permanent joints. In parallel, there has been a need to reliably predict their mechanical strength to assist design. Fracture mechanics approaches such as cohesive zone models (CZM) have advantages over continuum mechanics but rely on the knowledge of the fracture toughness (GC) adhesives.
