What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked for The Independent, an alternative weekly in Colorado Springs. I shot black and white film and made prints for them.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email or phone.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Canon and Fuji digital cameras, MacBook and Adobe Software Suite for still photos and video, iPhone, notebooks and pens for reporting.

Why did you become a journalist?

I am curious about the world and hope to have an impact.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No, but I was a yearbook photographer in high school.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Mornings, Eastern Standard Time.

What's your favorite drink?

Cappuccino, red wine

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Out reporting, shooting photographs or hiking.
