When asked how I plan to vote in Saturday's special election regarding the need to call a Cherokee Nation Constitutional Convention, the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," comes to mind. Progress in the Cherokee Nation has been made under our constitution as it is written. Our education, health care and language programs continue to lead the way while we maintain financial soundness. Our constitution has allowed for the strengthening of tribal sovereignty.
