How is social media changing news?
Social media has greatly hurt the beat reporter, but it has dramatically helped the growth of longform.
What's your favorite social network?
I love Twitter. I think it is an incredibly powerful tool that has changed, and will continue to change our business.
Who do you wish followed you?
Mark Singer. I aspire to write profiles for The New Yorker one day. And I think that Singer is the gold standard.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
"The Importance of Being Francesa." It took me months to get access, but once I did, I was able to present a unique view of a fascinating man
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Seek editorial guidance whenever possible. My writing improved dramatically once I started working with editors.
