Do list managers watch games? Cornes can’t understand Bergman offer
Download the SEN App Your Home of Sport, In your Hand Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes can’t understand why Jason Cripps isn’t under more scrutiny as the Power’s list manager. Cripps has served as the club’s list boss since 2011, two years before Ken Hinkley took over as coach. While Hinkley finished up as coach at the end of 2025, Cripps survived in his role, which is something Cornes can’t understand.
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD: Shining a Dark Light on the Past
A steady cadence of re-releases from Nintendo over the last few years has slowly but surely shone a light on the importance of looking back in an industry consistently focused on pushing boundaries. Nintendo has therefore become a bastion of embracing the past and allowing us to actually look back on it through the prism of our modern knowledge. Nintendo’s latest example of this is visually upgrading Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, a remaster of the 2012 3DS game and sequel to the GameCube classic.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the Weight of Innovation
Over a year since its launch, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a rare example of a sequel that managed to invent the wheel for a second time. Where Breath of the Wild reintroduced the world to the sense of adventure that literally birthed The Legend of Zelda as we know it, Tears of the Kingdom builds upon the foundation that was laid by its predecessor and actively encourages players to go beyond the boundaries that were set in the previous title.
Now Playing at SUPERJUMP, Issue 23
We're back with another issue of Now Playing at SUPERJUMP! The team has been spending their time with some more obscure games lately, with a few AAA titles mixed in. Enjoy this week's entries and we'll see you back here soon with more recommendations and odes to the games we love! I've been in a gaming slump recently - my horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 must be as good as dead by now.
Discovering Gravitation in Gravity Rush
The last few years of PlayStation exclusives have seen a distinct shift from the legacy of previous systems, being far more focused on dense realism when compared to titles from the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. While technically impressive, the shift to cinematic realism has led to the neglect of other franchises in Sony's wheelhouse.
The Quiet Genius of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
One of the landmark titles of 2024, the team behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was saddled with the unenviable task of trying to recreate one of the founding fathers of the modern RPG and one of the most famous video games of all time. A follow-up to Final Fantasy VII Remake, this game sees the party emerging from the industrialised labyrinth of Midgar into the wider world, set free to explore and stop Sephiroth.
A Deep Dive Into the World of Splatoon
Nintendo is a company that prides itself on its legacy content and has shown great respect for its pantheon of franchises throughout its 45-year history in developing video games. Moreso than other large publishers, it feels like Nintendo is satisfied with its lineup and very rarely goes out of its way to reinvent its image with a new franchise. But on the rare occasion they do, the result can be titanic, as was the case with Splatoon for the oft-maligned Wii U.
Baldur's Gate 3 is Exhausting (and That's Okay)
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that needs almost no introduction. Being based on the traditional Dungeons and Dragons rule set, it burst onto the scene in August 2023 and landed with an impact that was absolutely unprecedented. It was almost impossible to not see clips of the game on social media, from exciting combat scenarios to hilarious outbursts from your party members. Baldur’s Gate 3 has it all.
Persona 3 Excels in Time Management and Mortality
ATLUS has become a household name in the gaming industry over the last few years thanks in large part to the breakout success of Persona 5. Persona as a franchise is an off-shoot of the fabled Shin Megami Tensei series but has largely ascended into its own franchise. This journey to stardom began with the release of Persona 3 on the PlayStation 2, which became a cult classic among RPG enthusiasts.
Pizza Possum Review (PS5) - Marsupial Munchies
Pizza Possum Review (PS5) – A short and sweet experience that doesn’t outstay its welcome, Pizza Possum is a delightfully offbeat stealth-action game that offers spades of personality within its short playtime as well as remarkably solid gameplay across the board. Like the food that the game is named after, Pizza Possum is a game that will have you coming back for more to go for another round after the credits roll.
The Importance of Ambiguity: Power of the Unspoken
The end of a long story has the potential to both make and ruin someone’s experience with a title. After such time investment and emotion, the ending is what you’re left with to think about. There’s no single recipe for creating a good ending for any form of media, be it books, TV shows, films, or, in this case, video games. Yet it feels like we hold video games to a different standard than other forms of media, with the idea of an open-ended conclusion being one that few people are fond of.
The Crew Motorfest Review (PS5) - Hawaiian Highways And Motorist Mayhem
The Crew Motorfest PS5 Review – Standing as the third entry into their dedicated racing franchise, The Crew Motorfest cuts back some of the fat from the previous entries to deliver their most focused version of this formula to date from Ubisoft. This results in a game that feels far more streamlined to just experience minute-to-minute, with some fantastic racing gameplay to boot.
Enchanted Portals Review (PS5) – Living In The Shadow Of Greatness - PlayStation Universe
Enchanted Portals Review (PS5) – Enchanted Portals is a game that wears its inspiration on its sleeve, being inspired by 2017’s Cuphead in both style and substance. Enchanted Portals attempts to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time and replicate the same distinct visual style and gameplay loop that Cuphead borderline perfected.
Touhou: New World Review (PS5) - Rinsing And Repeating
Touhou: New World PS5 Review – Touhou: New World is a new entry in the cult-classic Touhou series of bullet-hell action games. So-called for their use of visually bombastic and complex boss battles, this game sticks close to those roots. In that dedication to tradition, the game refuses to do anything beyond the status quo, resulting in an experience that feels nothing short of uninspired and a slog after an extended period.
Virgo Versus The Zodiac Review (PS5) - Jumping Across Space, One Constellation At A Time
Virgo Versus The Zodiac Review (PS5) – Virgo Versus The Zodiac is pretty much what it says on the tin. You play as the rough and ready Virgo as you follow her and her friends’ journey across the universe to bring back the so-called “golden-age”. Along the way, you’ll meet strange and weird characters who will guide and mislead you in a series of memorable interactions. Wrapped around these interactions is an interesting story with some great moments sprinkled throughout.
Marble It Up! Ultra Review (PS5) - A Well-Rounded Experience For Players Both New And Old
Marble It Up! Ultra Review (PS5) – Marble It Up! Ultra wastes absolutely no time in getting players involved with playing the game. There’s no rhyme nor reason to any of the obstacle courses that players are challenged with navigating, they are simply told to navigate them. And this snappy and simple setup is part of Marble It Up! Ultra’s appeal as players are immediately thrust into creative and challenging gauntlets.
Pikmin 4 - A Blooming Good Time
To say that Pikmin is an important franchise to me would be an understatement. Ever since being introduced to the game nearly 15 years ago, I have played and replayed each game time after time and year after year. I distinctly remember that fateful Eurogamer review in which it was reported that Pikmin 4 was "close to completion in 2015," and how excited I felt to hear that another Pikmin game would be coming so soon after 3.
We Happy Few: One Memorable Trip
With the announcement of developer Compulsion Games' new title at Summer Games Fest - South of Midnight - I found myself wanting to revisit their previous title to see where the team could improve and where they should focus their efforts. I was also curious whether or not my opinion on We Happy Few had changed over the past few years.
Demonstration Perfection: Final Fantasy XVI
To say the demo for Final Fantasy XVI has made a splash would be an understatement; since its release on Monday, the public response to the demo has been nothing short of fascinating. While excitement for the upcoming entry in the Final Fantasy franchise has been growing steadily in the niche RPG fandom since its initial reveal in 2020, the release of this demo has marked a stark shift in the public image of the upcoming game.
The Understated Beauty of the Title Screen
When someone talks about a game they enjoy, they usually mean the experience of playing it more than anything else. That almost seems redundant to say, but there's a lot more going on than many consciously notice. One of the first things you ever encounter in a game is far more impactful than many actually realise, and that is the humble title screen. For many, it's the part of the game that you rush through to get to the good stuff.
Predicting the PlayStation Showcase
Preview What to expect when Sony is expecting For those of us who write about video games, nothing beats a big showcase event. And when it's coming from the biggest name in consoles after a wait of almost two years... that's pretty hard to beat. Predicting what's going to happen in the showcase comes in a close second, though, so we asked our writers to see what they thought might happen.
BOKURA: Two Sides of the Same Co-Operative Coin
BOKURA presents the player - or pair of players - with a unique method of cooperative gameplay. Instead of sharing the same screen and battling the same challenges as a team, BOKURA invites each player to complete their own challenges and work together to overcome them. Similar in concept to games like A Way Out and Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, BOKURA strides into an innovative new frontier to deliver a co-op experience truly unlike any other I have experienced in recent memory.
Resident Evil 4: Perfecting the Couch Horror Experience
Resident Evil 4 Remake is astonishing; a game where many questioned the reason it existed, the final product is a game that many have become smitten with. Capcom has painstakingly and lovingly recreated the 2005 legend and truly brought it into the modern day. With smart and attentive changes across the board, it polishes the original story to a shine while smartly bringing the original 2005 game more in line tonally with the recent games from the franchise.
A Musical Journey - Theatrhythm Final Bar Line
If there's one thing that Final Fantasy is known and respected for across its 35-year history, it absolutely has to be the music. Final Fantasy as a franchise is home to some of the most iconic soundtracks in video game history. So it seems almost too obvious that Square-Enix would want to capitalize on this and make a rhythm game from their musical ensemble, yet that is what they've done.
Redefining the Remake
We all have that one game from when we were a kid. That one game we know inside and out, and no matter how many times we beat it, we can always go back and find something new to enjoy or feel the comfort of nostalgia.   Nostalgia is one of the most powerful influences on the games we choose to play, and developers absolutely know this. While the last few years have seen many new IPs emerge from various teams, more and more are looking back and making something new out of the old.
Fire Emblem Engage: An "Engaging" Return to Series Roots
After nearly 4 years since the last main entry on the Switch, Intelligent Systems have released yet another Fire Emblem game for players to sink their teeth into. Fire Emblem as a franchise has been steadily gaining traction since the release of Fire Emblem Awakening in 2012 (under the risk of the franchise being cancelled) and this entry seems to want to maintain that solid forward momentum while also giving new fans a glimpse back at the legacy of the franchise over the past 30 years.
