What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked as a sub editor on listings at the Press Association
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I used to use an electric typewriter many years ago
How is social media changing news?
it has already changed it but sadly not always for the better.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to ask questions of people whose work I admire
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use InDesign and Photoshop to create my pages and images for the print magazine as well as resize pictures for use on the web
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I got the chance to spend a couple of hours with war photographer Don McCullin and I am very proud of the feature I wrote with him
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Make sure that you are adaptable and have several strings to your bow

Probably after lunchtime on a weekday

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
out having a work to make sure I get at least five miles in each day
