GWAS meta-analysis of psoriasis identifies new susceptibility alleles impacting disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets - Nature Communications
Abstract Psoriasis is a common, debilitating immune-mediated skin disease. Genetic studies have identified biological mechanisms of psoriasis risk, including those targeted by effective therapies. However, the genetic liability to psoriasis is not fully explained by variation at robustly identified risk loci.

Association of Lipid-Lowering Drugs With Risk of Psoriasis: A Mendelian Randomization Study Autores: Sizheng Steven Zhao, Zenas Z.N. Yiu, Anne Barton, John Bowes Localización: JAMA Dermatology, ISSN 2168-6068, Vol. 159, Nº. 3, 2023, págs. 275-280 Idioma: inglés Enlaces Texto completo Resumen Importance Lipid pathways have been implicated in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, and some lipid-lowering drugs, such as statins, are hypothesized to have disease-modifying properties.

HLA-DRB1 haplotypes predict cardiovascular mortality in inflammatory polyarthritis independent of CRP and anti-CCP status - Arthritis Research & Therapy
|
Arthritis Research & Therapy volume 24, Article number: 90 (2022) Cite this article Abstract Background Haplotypes defined by amino acids at HLA-DRB1 positions 11, 71 and 74 associated with susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are associated with radiological outcome, anti-TNF response and all cause-mortality in RA. RA is associated with cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality, but the increased prevalence of risk factors of CV disease in RA only partially explains this association.

Superintendent's message - Davis Enterprise
We can all feel the excitement building in preparation for the launch of the Phase 3 Hybrid Model in just a few short weeks. The continued good news about expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines and the decrease of community spread in Yolo County (keeping us in the Red Tier) are all reasons to celebrate. At the same time, let’s all continue to do our part and be vigilant in our social distancing practices and prudent use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Superintendent’s message: Opening campuses for hybrid learning
I want to share good news about how we are getting closer to meeting the established conditions for a safe reopening in hybrid learning in Davis Joint Unified. I am pleased to report that indicators are trending positively and we are actively planning for a return to campus for our students.

Cross-phenotype association mapping of the MHC identifies genetic variants that differentiate psoriatic arthritis from psoriasis
The MHC is a particularly challenging region of the genome to map due to the presence of multiple independent associations and extensive linkage disequilibrium between genetic variants. Given the complexity of fine-mapping genetic associations in the MHC, in this study, we attempt to independently validate the previously reported association to the amino acid at position 45 of HLA-B.

A rare coding allele in IFIH1 is protective for psoriatic arthritis
In approximately 6%–42% of cases psoriasis is associated with an inflammatory arthritis,1 psoriatic arthritis (PsA), which includes joint inflammation, involving primarily the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints, entheses and sacroiliac joints.
Davis schools must provide an exemplary education for all students
As many of you know, since my arrival in Davis last summer, I have been spending time at schools and in the Davis community listening and learning. As a recent resident of Davis and your new superintendent, I have sought to understand the current state of our schools, to build relationships within our community and to discover ways to capitalize on strengths to transform our learning organization to one that provides exemplary educational experiences for all students.

John Bowes: Our schools should be places where all students can flourish
This is a tumultuous period in our country and in our world. As leaders struggle with the crises of the times, educators are preparing future leaders for the challenges of tomorrow. Public education, at its very core, cultivates a healthy society, by developing resourceful and knowledgeable individuals.
