Welcome to Pebble Beach Golf Links in Monterey Peninsula, California. Typically played as a Pro-Am on three courses with a 56-hole cut, but once again Covid-19 has changed things. There will be no amateur’s and the players will get one round on each of Spyglass and Pebble on Thursday and Friday. Those who make the cut will be on Pebble for the remainder of the weekend. Weather will be a major factor this weekend as both courses are situated along the California coast.

If you have seen HBO’s Tiger Woods documentary already, you will recognize Torrey Pines as the sight of the 2008 US Open where Tiger knocked off Rocco Mediate with a torn ACL and a broken leg. Thirteen years later and Torrey Pines is set to host the 2021 US Open. With that being said, I’m surprised we aren’t seeing more of the world’s best trying to get an early look at the course.

Another week in Hawaii means we won’t be watching golf during the workday, but we’re still looking forward to making and watching our Sony Open DFS picks! The players are headed from Maui to Honolulu to play the Wai’alae Country Club, a course that has been on tour since 1965 (Hawaiian open, Sony since 99′). Course history has been a factor here in the past. Players with experience have tended to score better. Additionally, 14 of 22 past winners of the Sony had played at Kapalua the previous week.

It’s known as a birdie-fest with open fairways and wide greens. While fairways are wide open, driving accuracy is important for golfers to end up on the correct side of the fairway and have an angle to the pin. Sinking 10+ ft putts will also be key for golfers to reach -22. This is one of the few courses where players see Paspalum grass.

Welcome to Week 2 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This week we will be traveling to Olympia Fields CC, 45 mins outside of Chicago. The event hosts the top 70 golfers in FedEx points for 4 rounds (no cut) with the top 30 in points advancing to the Tour Championship next week. This will be the first time the PGA has seen this course since the 2003 US Open (won by Jim Furyk -8).

It’s playoff time!! The FedExCup playoffs do not carry as much weight as the majors, but it still provides three excellent weeks of golf. Even more important, three weeks of excellent Daily Fantasy Golf Picks! Week 1 of the three-leg playoffs will be at TPC Boston. That course formerly hosted the Dell Technologies tournaments, as well as several other PGA events. This course should challenge the players. Its length will require golfers to be good off the tee, which we have focused on below.

The golfers head to Greensboro North Carolina to play the beautiful Sedgefield Country Club at the Wyndham Championship. Sedgefield is the only remaining Donald Ross course to make a yearly appearance on tour. In typical Donnie fashion, players will see elevated greens, rolling from back to front. The greens are surrounded by playable bunkers and collection areas for missed approaches.

Luckily for all us degenerates, this week’s major tournament, the PGA Championship, is what we have all been waiting for. A tournament with only the elite players and soft pricing. The boys head to San Francisco to take on TPC Harding Park. TPC Harding is a par 70, 7,200-yard course but with the cold weather, high winds, and deep rough, we expect the course to be very challenging.

Potentially the only positive thing to come from COVID-19 is loaded golf fields and we have another one this week. The Memorial always has a good turnout, but this is a major-level field. They are playing Muirfield Village again so no need to go into course specifics, as ball strikers will be the key here this week again.

For the first time in PGA history, they will be playing at the same course in back-to-back weeks. The John Deere Classic was cancelled and replaced with the Workday Charity Open to reduce travel before the Memorial next week at Muirfield Village. This tournament is the inaugural, so when looking at past results we will have to look at the Memorial.

This tournament has also never had a field like this in the past so tournament history will not be a good indicator.

This is considered at the fifth major, which will have the most ranked golfers in the world’s top 150 than any other tournament of the year. Not only is the field incredibly deep, but there are hazards all over this golf course making it one of the hardest events to predict. Last year, 4 out of the top 6 highest scorers on DraftKings last year were priced $7,100 or below ( Vegas, Fury, Sneds, and Eddie Pepps).

In a no cut event, with a shorter field make sure to be checking projected ownership and creating lineups with money leftover to create unique lineups.
