John Howells: It's coming home
Once again we have the football World Cup, which is now bigger than ever with 58 teams. To the non football fans, the agony, now well launched, is set to last until July 19. This is a significant date for the World Cup final. It will be 60 years since England won the tournament. As it is also my birthday I have plans to go out for a meal but if by some miracle England are in the final I suspect any chance of a peaceful meal will be gone as fans will flock to watch TV in pubs and restaurants.
John Howells: The long wait
John's team are finally the champions. Picture: Huy Phan/Pexels. (Huy Phan/Pexels) Some will be totally uninterested. Some will be upset. Some will be angry. Some will not believe it. Some will be relieved. Many if us will be overjoyed. Some will not understand what all the fuss is about. After 22 years and countless near misses, Arsenal have become Premier League champions. For those with no interest in football it will seem odd to watch men and boys of all ages jumping about in wild celebrations.
John Howells: And the winner is...
The local elections have been dominating the news. (File image) For what seems like forever the news has been dominated by the local elections. Weeks before polling day pundits were making predictions about the result. In the end what was predicted came to pass. Much had been made of the success of the Reform Party. There is no denying that gaining 1,400 seats wad a spectacular achievement. However a closer look at what actually took place reveals a different set of conclusions.
Incidental Finding of Azygous Vein Aneurysm on the Background of Myasthenia Gravis-Is It a Wolf in Sheep's Coat?
A 60-year-old non-smoker presented with a 10-day history of slurred speech and difficulty in swallowing. He denied any respiratory symptoms. On examination, there was unilateral ptosis, and he was suspected to have bulbar weakness. He was diagnosed with oculo-bulbar Myasthenia Gravis. A computed tomogram of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis was done to rule out malignancy and to rule out paraneoplastic manifestations.
Delayed Pulmonary Artery Stump Thrombosis Presenting With Haemoptysis: A Rare Presentation of a Rare Phenomenon
This clinical image highlights a case of pulmonary artery stump thrombosis in a 68-year-old male with a history of left upper lobectomy for squamous cell carcinoma in 2019, who was under annual CT surveillance. In January 2023, he presented with a productive cough and haemoptysis. An initial surveillance CT thorax excluded cancer recurrence but revealed right upper lobe inflammatory changes (Figure 1), treated with doxycycline. However, persistent haemoptysis necessitated a CT pulmonary angiogram.
Are You Killing Your Creativity By Being Too Technical On The Golf Course? Here's Why 'Messing Around Matters'
I am sometimes guilty of taking the game of golf a little bit too seriously, and I certainly get into my own head when trying to execute very tricky shots - like the one hop and stop chip shot to a back flag or an ambitious short-sided flop over the greenside bunker. With increased pressure in my golf grip and a woefully tentative swing, the end result is rarely the exquisite shot I had envisioned in my mind.

How To Play The Long Lazy Lob Shot: Get Out Of Trouble Around The Greens With This Essential Short Game Saver
Sometimes you find yourself in a position around the green where the only viable option is to go upstairs with your next shot. John Howells: The Budget at last!
We have had weeks of speculation before at last the Chancellor has delivered her Budget. Whatever your political affiliation, credit must be given to the first-ever female chancellor for a very polished performance. It was always going to be the case that tax would be increased. Likewise it was certain that the opposition would shout “I told you so”.
How To Hit A Soft Fade: Collin Morikawa's Signature Shot Original
Collin Morikawa's majestically smooth golf swing is something all amateur golfers should strive to replicate. He may not be the longest in the game, but rather than becoming fixated on how far he hits his 7-iron or driver, I am instead going to admire the control he demonstrates with his ball flight. The mastery that Morikawa possesses over his craft is inspirational, especially when you see him hit that trademark soft fade with laser-like precision and often astounding results.

That’s a fact if you want to be a good, consistent iron player.
This Quick Clubface Fix Will Save You Plenty Of Shots On The Golf Course... Original
An open clubface is often the enemy of progress for so many amateur golfers, costing them distance, consistency and shots on the golf course. It doesn't matter how far you hit your iron shots if your clubface is wide open, as all you will be doing is heading further into trouble. This common fault keeps most PGA professionals in a job! Our lesson diaries are full of players who initially struggle with a slice to the right.

Labour sets out plans for hundreds of new banking hubs
Labour has set out plans for 350 banking hubs to be opened in towns and villages across Britain over the next five years, if it wins the General Election. The party said the proposal would “breathe new life back into Britain’s high streets”. Banking hubs allow staff from several banks to share the same space, helping to fill gaps left in the system from branch closures. They have a counter service operated by the Post Office, allowing customers to conduct routine banking transactions.
Putting Drills For Speed - Dial In Your Distance Control
Putting drills for speed are, in my opinion, the simplest and most convenient to work into your busy schedule. Investing in one of the best putting mats, indoor putting greens or putting aids will allow you to 'go mobile' with your practice, meaning you can put in those extra reps at home, at the office or wherever else you fancy.

Read our privacy notice It is that time of year when many of us amateur gardeners need to make decisions about what to grow and what to buy in the way of vegetables. If you are lucky enough to have a garden there is the incentive to try to grow your own crops. The task is made very much easier if you have a greenhouse.
7 Shots To Get You Out Of Trouble On The Golf Course
Even if you listen to the best golf tips, and consider all the factors like calculating distance in the wind, you are still not guaranteed to hit every fairway.
