Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Tolerability of GS-1427, an Oral Prodrug of a Potent and Selective α4β7 Integrin Inhibitor, in Healthy Participants
Introduction Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the colonic mucosa that predominantly occurs in the rectum and lower colon and is characterized histologically by the presence of both acute and chronic inflammation.1 The hallmark symptom of UC is bloody diarrhea that is frequently accompanied by rectal urgency and tenesmus.1 A dysregulated mucosal immune response to commensal gut flora in genetically susceptible individuals seems likely to be involved in the etiology...
Understanding Path Dependency Is Critical to Project Success
Path Dependency is a concept that many project professionals have never heard of – and yet, for many projects, it is far more important to success than Critical Path. To understand why, let’s start with some definitions. “A critical path is determined by identifying the longest stretch of dependent activities and measuring the time required to complete them from start to finish.” Critical Path determines how long a project will take.
Champagne at Highbury
Everton History (Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and England) After twenty years in football I find it very difficult to pick on any one match, naturally after being so long in this great game, many thrilling matches have easily come to mind. Which shall it be? my first professional game with Burnley in which, at seventeen years and four days, I scored a hat-trick? My goal in two minutes in the replayed match at White Hart lane in my first Cup-tie with Everton in 1937?
Don't count your chickens before they've hatched
Everton History By Joe Mercer – Everton, Arsenal, and England. During a temporary stoppage about 4 minutes from full time, with the score 2-0 in our favour in the 1950 Liverpool vs Arsenal FA Cup Final , my old friend Walley Barnes said to me, "What does it feel like to win a Cup medal?" My words to Walley were unprintable but, in no uncertain manner, I informed him that the game was not over yet, and to get back on his job and wait for the final whistle.
“Made in England” - An Italian Tribute
By Frank Swift, Manchester City and England. It was my first match as captain of England in a full international, it was my greatest match and it was also one of England's greatest matches. No man can ask for more than that, and I know that I will never forget the golden sunshine of that Sunday evening in 1948 when England thrashed a great Italian side 4-0 at Turin.

The Ups and Downs of the Original Twelve - Part III
Hi all, because part 2 has appeared to have run its course, and I don't know the date of my next appointment for my eye operation, I've decided to strike while the iron's hot. Apologies for any mistakes that one finger and one eye might bring. Everton Founded as St Domingo FC 1878, renamed Everton FC 1879. Ground: Goodison Park. From a Sunday School came Everton, for when the original club was founded in 1878 it was St Domingo F.C. connected with the Congregational Church.
The Ups and Downs of the Original Twelve - Part I
Hi all, I thought that with the site being swamped with posts related to the current situation, that I could take the opportunity of introducing examples of football prior to the formation of the Premier League. Accrington Founded: 1876 Ground: Peel Park. Sandwiched, as Accrington is, between Blackburn and Burnley, only enthusiastic local loyalty could provide sufficient support to guarantee any football club in the town a stable position in the Football League.
The Ups and Downs of the Original Twelve - Part II
Informative read, John. I'll have to put my hand up and admit ignorance. Although aware of the "White Horse" Wembley final, I wasn't aware that Bolton were part of it. I think Bolton and Burnley, founding members of the Football League, have always struggled in modern times in the shadow of being in the same catchment area as Everton, Liverpool and the Manchester Clubs. Then again, in more recent times, we could say that about Everton, although our very loyal support base keeps going somehow.
The Ups and Downs of the Original Twelve - Part II
Hi all, part one of this thread has apparently run its course, so I will continue with part two. Bolton Wanderers Formed as Christ Church, 1874, Bolton Wanderers, 1877 Ground: Burnden Park. What a club! Dark Days, fights for existence, a Football League club from the inception of that combination in 1888, five times relegated to Division 2, yet never down for longer than two seasons and only seven in all.

When I seek solace
Everton History John McFarlane [Senior] 26/06/2023 comments | Jump to last When I feel the need to escape the far too many setbacks of the modern game, I turn my thoughts to the times of my Granddad. I have picked up some of the events of Everton, and how the club was seen in the eyes of others, in a book published in 1906: From: Association Football and The Men Who Made It by Alfred Gibson & William Pickford, 1906.
Stop criminalizing poverty
Poverty In an equitable society, one thing rings true—poverty should never be criminalized! New York’s justice system, pre-2019, did one thing very well—it kept innocent people in jail simply for the lack of having money. This led to not only grotesque and immoral policy but trauma and death. Today, a fictitious debate rages, characterized by fear mongering, misinformation, and outright lies about bail reform.
'The Harvest'
Matthew 9:36-38 — “But when [Jesus] saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. (37) Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; (38) Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”How many times have we overheard a Christian moan, “Things just aren’t like they used to be.
