Reactivity of a Triamidoamine Terminal Uranium(VI)-Nitride with 3d-Transition Metal Metallocenes
Reactivity of a Triamidoamine Terminal Uranium(VI)-Nitride with 3d-Transition Metal Metallocenes Reactions between [(TrenTIPS)UVIN] (1, TrenTIPS = {N(CH2CH2NSiPri3)3}3) and [MII(5-C5R5)2] (M/R = Cr/H, Mn/H, Fe/H, Ni/H) were intractable, but M/R = Co/H or Co/Me afforded [(TrenTIPS)UV=N-(1:4-C5H5)CoI(5-C5H5)] (2) and [(TrenTIPS)UIV-NH2] (3), respectively. For M/R = V/H [(TrenTIPS)UIV-N=VIV(5-C5H5)2] (4), was isolated.
δ-Bonding Modulates the Electronic Structure of Formally Divalent nd1 Rare Earth Arene Complexes
δ-Bonding Modulates the Electronic Structure of Formally Divalent nd1 Rare Earth Arene Complexes Landmark advances in rare earth (RE) chemistry have shown that divalent complexes can be isolated with non-Aufbau 4fn{5d/6s}1 electron configurations, facilitating remarkable bonding motifs and phenomenal magnetic properties. We report an unprecedented series of divalent bis-tethered arene complexes, [RE(NHAriPr6)2] (2RE; RE = Sc, Y, La, Sm, Eu, Tm, Yb; NHAriPr6 = {N(H)C6H3-2,6-(C6H2-2,4,6-iPr3)2}).
13Ccarbene nuclear magnetic resonance chemical shift analysis confirms CeIVC double bonding in cerium(IV)–diphosphonioalkylidene complexes
13Ccarbene nuclear magnetic resonance chemical shift analysis confirms CeIVC double bonding in cerium(iv)–diphosphonioalkylidene complexes† Diphosphonioalkylidene dianions have emerged as highly effective ligands for lanthanide and actinide ions, and the resulting formal metal–carbon double bonds have challenged and developed conventional thinking about f-element bond multiplicity and covalency.

Isostructural σ-hydrocarbyl phospholide complexes of uranium, neptunium, and plutonium
Isostructural σ-hydrocarbyl phospholide complexes of uranium, neptunium, and plutonium†‡ Michaela Černá,a John A. Seed, a Sara Garrido Fernandez,a Michael T. Janicke,b Brian L. Scott, c George F. S. Whitehead, a Andrew J. Gaunt b and Conrad A. P. Goodwin *ab Abstract σ-Hydrocarbyl complexes of the form [M(η5-PC4Me4)2(μ-η1:η6-CH2Ph)2K(η6-arene)] (M = La, Ce, Pr, U, Np, Pu; arene = benzene or toluene) were synthesised in one-pot reactions from [MI3(THF)4], or [U(BH4)3(toluene)] (M = U).
Uranium-Nitride Chemistry: Uranium-Uranium Electronic Communication Mediated by Nitride Bridges
Uranium-Nitride Chemistry: Uranium-Uranium Electronic Communication Mediated by Nitride Bridges David M King, Stephen Liddle, Ashley Wooles, John Seed, Matthew Gregson, Nikolas Kaltsoyannis, Benjamin Atkinson and Lucile Chatelain Abstract Treatment of [UIV(N3)(TrenTIPS)] (1, TrenTIPS = {N(CH2CH2NSiPri3)3}3-) with excess Li resulted in the isolation of [{UIV(-NLi2)(TrenTIPS)}2] (2), which exhibits a diuranium(IV) ‘diamond-core’ dinitride motif.
