Transversal fault tolerant distributed quantum computing operations
Abstract Distributed architectures are a route to scalable quantum computing, but the performance of fault-tolerant operations across noisy inter-module links remains poorly characterized. We present circuit-level simulations of two key distributed primitives: transversal non-local CNOT and logical teleportation using surface and bivariate-bicycle codes. We then simulate the use of these distributed primitives in a major subroutine of common quantum algorithms.
Ladies: Waterford end league campaign on winning note against Galway
Waterford's Kellyann Hogan ©INPHO/Bryan Keane Waterford 2-12 Galway 0-10 By John Stack Waterford closed out their Lidl National Football League Division 1 campaign with a hard-earned victory over Galway in Leamybrien, edging a lively and competitive encounter despite little riding on the outcome for either side. With Galway already through to the league final against Cork and Waterford building towards the Munster Championship, both teams still served up an entertaining contest.
Cork stun Kerry on double scores as Meath end Waterford's 100% start and Dublin earn first win
By Dan Kearney KATIE QUIRKE STRUCK 0-10 as a rampant Cork outfit made short work of Kerry, winning by double scores in this fourth round Lidl Division 1 encounter at a windswept and bitterly cold Austin Stack Park in Tralee. Kerry made five changes to the side that defeated Meath in the previous round with long-term injury victim Cáit Lynch a significant loss to the side. Cork made two changes to the side that defeated Armagh in the last round and set about their business with intent.
Ladies: Finnegan goal key as Meath deal Waterford first league defeat
Meath 1-9 Waterford 0-10 by John Stack A lively and hard-fought Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1 encounter in Dungarvan GAA Grounds saw Meath edge out Waterford after a contest that ebbed and flowed throughout. Waterford, who had won all three games to date, opened the scoring inside four minutes when Kellyann Hogan converted a free, but Meath struck back almost immediately with the game’s decisive score.

Computed tomography of the equine caudal spine and pelvis: Technique, image quality and anatomical variation in 56 clinical cases (2018-2023)
1 INTRODUCTION Computed tomography (CT) is becoming more readily available for horses. It has quickly become the accepted gold standard diagnostic imaging modality for complex anatomical regions such as the head and cervical spine.1-3 Technological advances facilitating this rapid adoption of CT imaging included the advent of CT machines with wide bores (80–90 cm), sliding gantries and custom-built patient tables and platforms that can accommodate horses and facilitate positioning.

Computed tomography of the equine caudal spine and pelvis. Pathological findings in 56 clinical cases (2018-2023)
1 INTRODUCTION There is a growing body of work describing the computed tomographic (CT) appearance of osseous pathology in the equine caudal spine (caudal thoracic spine, lumbar spine, and sacrum) and pelvis.

Computed tomographic contrast tenography aids pre‐operative diagnosis in clinical conditions of the digital flexor tendon sheath
INTRODUCTION Numerous causes of digital flexor tendon sheath (DFTS) tenosynovitis have been described, with the most commonly reported lesions being longitudinal tears of the deep digital flexor tendon (DDFT), tears of the manica flexoria (MF) and fetlock canal constriction (FCC) (Arensburg et al., 2011; Cender et al., 2023; Kent et al., 2020; Smith & Wright, 2006).
Colon resection and anastomosis as treatment of an idiopathic colo‐colic intussusception in an adult horse
INTRODUCTION Intussusception is an infrequently reported cause of colic in adult horses (Nelson & Brounts, 2012). An intussusception occurs when a segment of intestine (the intussusceptum) invaginates into an adjacent segment of intestine (the intussuscipiens) resulting in variable vascular compromise and obstruction of the intestine (Albanese et al., 2011).
5 tips for choosing a gas analyzer that effectively monitors trace industrial air toxics
Hazardous air pollutants — or compounds known to cause cancer and other serious health problems — can pose serious worker safety concerns for industries that use or manufacture chemical and petrochemical products. The scale of the monitoring need is far-reaching and often includes industries such as automotive, medical sterilization, agricultural, chemical manufacturing, semiconductor and pharmaceutical, just to name a few.

Never Been Seen
Between 2019 and 2021 the Science Museum Group is digitising hundreds of thousands of objects from its remarkable collection as they are moved to a new, purpose-built store in Wiltshire. As each of these objects are added to the collection website, you could be the first person to see it published online though a web page which displays objects with a total lifetime page view count of zero. Find out more about the digitisation project and Never Been Seen.
Assessment of intrasynovial injection in horses by contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography using air bubbles created by agitation of solution
1 INTRODUCTION Intrasynovial injections are performed commonly in horses to diagnose and treat lameness.1 The accuracy of intrasynovial injections ranges widely (32%-96%) and has only been reported for a limited number of joints, including the proximal and distal interphalangeal joints, metacarpophalangeal joint and distal tarsal joint.1-5 Intrasynovial injections of smaller joints, particularly where effusion is not readily palpable, can be technically challenging and result in inaccurate...
Covid infections among Bristol students can be reduced by 75% with interventions, says University model
By John Stack, Second Year, Mathematics BSc With reduced face to face teaching and ‘lower cost interventions’ such as social distancing and face-masks, the spread of COVID-19 through the Bristol University student body can be reduced by three quarters and, under some scenarios, ‘driven to zero’, according to modelling by scientists at the Universities of Bristol and Exeter.

Opening schools should be prioritised, says report led by the Universities of Bristol and Cambridge. What does the research mean for pupils?
By John Stack, Second Year, Mathematics BSc The Chief and Deputy Chief medical officers of the UK announced earlier this week, in a rare consensus statement, that ‘very few, if any, children or teenagers will come to long-term harm from Covid-19 due solely to attending school’ and that this ‘has to be set against a certainty of long-term harm to many children and young people from not attending school.’ This comes after a major report on the topic by the Royal Society’s Data Evaluation and...
Bristol University spent £20k renaming Senate House
By John Stack, Second Year Mathematics and Philosophy The renaming process took place over several months and consisted of online surveys, street surveys, workshops and consultations. A Freedom of Information request by The Mail on Sunday has revealed that the renaming of Senate House, cost the University at least £20,000. This comes following a report by Epigram in June that it had been decided that Senate House would retain its original name.
Ten things I wish I had known ten years ago
Your digital estate probably has multiple facets and functions, including some or all of: marketing and promotion, press and communications, research publications, tickets and e-commerce, online recruitment, digitised collections, learning resources, and so on. You're not going to make everything as perfect as you or your stakeholders want with the resources, time and budget you have. So, you have to prioritize.

How museums have been transformed by the digital revolution
John Stack, digital director of the Science Museum Group, considers the evolution of museum collections over the past 25 years and what libraries can learn from the way museums have responded to the digital imperative. Museums are slow to change. Their mission statements concern caring for cultural heritage collections over generations and connecting those collections to audiences. These mission statements and the values that underlie them have remained largely unchanged for decades.
Four Equipment Buying Tips
When it comes to purchasing foodservice equipment and supplies, operators always look for ways to buy better. It is not so much about buying better as it is buying smarter. This challenge doesn’t just apply to e-commerce transactions, despite what many industry observers may think. The same problem applies to brick-and-mortar stores. John Stack President/CEO ACityDiscount Restaurant Equipment & Supply AtlantaSo, what does it mean to buy smart? The more information the better.
