Former UMass Lacrosse Star Hannah Burnett Loving Life as NFL Scout
When the news broke in July that the New York Giants had just hired the first woman in the NFL franchise’s 95-year history to work full-time in its scouting department and that she played college lacrosse at UMass, you might have assumed Bill Belichick had something to do with it. All roads intersecting football and lacrosse seem to lead back to New England.
Coaches React to Uncertainty Surrounding Spring Lacrosse Season
“Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.” — John Allen Paulos, mathematician College sports will look vastly different upon their return, that’s a certainty. As it relates to lacrosse, the ACC is the only Power 5 conference that will take the field in the fall season.
The Best Moments in WPLL History

A Candid Reflection on Race from Virginia Coach Lars Tiffany
Truth, justice, equality. Our nation’s founders and charter documents clearly state the values the United States of America, and its citizens, will pursue and realize. Starting with the Declaration of Independence and continuing through modern times, we have such poetic, theoretical purity of opportunity-for-all and democracy found in the words from our government. But why do such past and current values not reflect the reality for so many Americans?

Dom Starsia: The Year After a Title Presents Unique Coaching Challenge
I n any other year since 1971, the NCAA would have crowned a Division I men’s lacrosse champion yesterday. Who might that have been and what is the nature of their journey that lies ahead? I am related to Brian Gill, the head soccer coach at the University of Pennsylvania. His grandmother and my mother were sisters, and I spent a lot of time with Brian’s father growing up on Long Island. We have stayed in touch over the years, and I saw him when I visited with the Penn lacrosse team in January.

A Rivalry on Pause: No Woodstick Classic for First Time Since 1935
The Woodstick Classic is, by many accounts, the Super Bowl of Long Island lacrosse. Garden City and Manhasset, Nassau County rivals who are two pillars in the New York lacrosse community, have played at least one game against each other every year since 1935. Except this year. The COVID-19 pandemic eliminated all springs sports across New York, making April 18’s scheduled contest impossible.

PLL Draft Recap: Chaos LC Makes Most Intriguing Selection
The strategy sounds straightforward enough. You’ve no doubt heard NFL GMs and insiders alike spout it over the last decade. Draft the best available player. That’s easier in concept than reality, especially when faced with a hole at a certain position. Luckily for Chaos fans, Andy Towers faced no such restrictions. “I'm fortunate in that we have no glaring positional needs, so I can go after whoever I want,” Towers said last week. He did.

Youth Movement in Florida Breeds Excitement for 2021
M ore often than not, the word “inexperienced” is used with a negative connotation, used as a means of explaining away a loss or a mental mistake in a big situation. The Florida women’s lacrosse team certainly suffered from this form of inexperience at different points in the abbreviated 2020 season, but what’s seemingly overlooked is how that inexperience also paved the way for season-shaping victories.
