91% Tomatometer 87 Reviews 72% Popcornmeter 5,000+ Ratings Beautiful Nola Darling (Tracy Camilla Johns) can't decide what kind of man she wants to date, so she decides to date three at the same time. Finally, there's Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee), a timid geek with a heart of gold.
Commanders trade for Saints Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore
The Washington Commanders solidified their secondary Tuesday, trading for New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. The Commanders traded 2025 picks in the third and fourth rounds and also gave the Saints a 2025 sixth-round pick they acquired in a previous trade this summer for defensive tackle John Ridgeway III. In addition to Lattimore, Washington received a 2025 fifth-round pick. The Commanders, who have long stated their desire to build through the draft, still have seven picks in 2025.
Evidence shows Kalgoorlie Cup 1936 winner ring-in theory lacks credibility
In this article, Goldfields sports historian John Terrell explodes the myth of a ring-in being involved with the winner of the 1936 Kalgoorlie Cup. For the past 86 years rumours have persisted in Goldfields racing circles that the cup winner of that year, Vital, was the 1935 Caulfield Cup winner, Palfresco, in disguise. Rumours and the racing industry go hand-in-glove.
Re: 'Our republic is in peril', [Village News, Letter, 9/17/20]
No, Democrats don’t believe that the government will solve all problems. However, we do need to vote into office those best qualified to solve the problems the government is best qualified to solve and there are many. If Reagan were here today, he would be correct in saying government is the problem. Other than that, what I remember about Reagan is that he almost tripled the National Debt in his effort to “reduce” government spending.
Re: 'Reparations, systemic racism and the Democratic Party' [Village News, Letter, 9/10/20]
Trying to politicize racism is a cheap-shot and trying to rewrite history to support that position is uncalled for. That said, there’s way more than enough racism to go round. Maynard manages to go off the rails fairly quickly, invalidating his position entirely. For example, he mentions the Northern Democrats in passing, not noting how significant their influence was on the Party.
In response to 'Dear Editor' [Village News, Letter, 8/27/2020 written by Ann Glass]
First untruth: “...when this president (Donald Trump) took office, unemployment was the highest it had been in a decade.” Fact: In January 2017, it was 4.70%. Former President Barack Obama had inherited a rate of 7.8% (and falling) from Republican G.W. Bush and steadily reduced it. Second untruth: “Obama gave China all of our prescription medication formulas to China.” Fact: China, and other countries overseas, supply many of the raw products needed to make generic drugs.
Re: 'Open our schools' [Village News, Letter, 7/30/2020]
San Diego County supervisor Jim Desmond made a sales pitch for sending children back to school, based, he said, on science and data. He cited a study conducted in Iceland, where not one child passed the virus to their parents. It’s what he didn’t say that’s a problem. The data said that relative to COVID-19, the U.S. and Iceland are in no way comparable. Iceland flattened its curve, instituted extensive testing and most importantly conducted rigorous contact tracing.
Honor their request
The pandemic has made a shambles not only of California’s economy but of the entire world’s economy. It looks bad and it is bad, not only for the state of our economy but our emotional state as well. But most people will get through this time, eventually – battered, but not beaten. Nothing can undo the personal losses we’ve suffered, but there are financial resources to get our economies back on their feet, if we choose to use them.
51 years of the Kambalda Football Club, the fifth GFL club born from region’s 1960’s nickel success
A couple of pensioned-off miners sat on a bench outside the Exchange Hotel in Hannan Street chatting about the travails of their former underground work on the Golden Mile and also about the town’s precarious future. Then a tourist bus drove past, with the words “Welcome to gold rush country” emblazoned on the side of the vehicle.
GFL families a force on field in the 60’s and 70’s
Brothers are not uncommon in football leagues across Australia. But when there are two families and 10 players involved in the same league, then it becomes an entirely different ball game. Such was the case when the Kennedy and Robinson brothers were running around in the Goldfields Football League during the 1960s and 1970s. And not just as ordinary players, most of them were champions. Mines Rovers Football Club were the main beneficiaries of their collective talent.
Meet our line-up of Goldfields all-star footy players from the gold rush period to today
The influence of the Goldfields in the development of WA football should never be under-estimated. When powerbrokers of WA football sat down to discuss WA’s participation for the inaugural Australasian football carnival in Melbourne in 1908 they faced a dilemma. They knew that picking a competitive side wouldn’t be easy.

From Cells-on-a-chip to Organs-on-a-chip: Scaffolding Materials for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidics Here we present a review paper of 181 references, which analyzes the emerging research area of integrating scaffolding materials in microfluidic devices for 3D cell culture (organs-on-a-chip). The technology of organs-on-a-chip holds the potential to obviate the gaps between pre-clinical and clinical studies.
Goldfields’ best footballers of the early-mid 1900s skipped WAFL for a shot at the VFL
The Perth-based Western Australian Football League would seem a natural progression for most Goldfields players seeking a higher challenge. However, for various reasons, at least six Goldfields footballers decided to bypass the WAFL and head straight to Melbourne to play in the best competition in the land: the Victorian Football League.
How dual Sandover medallist Stephen Michael helped Boulder City to the 1986 Goldfields Football League premiership
Controversy and colourful characters have been regular companions in Goldfields sport down through the decades. None more so than in Australian Rules football. The first evidence of controversy surfaced during the Coolgardie gold rush era in 1895 when several prominent Victorian footballers descended on the inland mining town, lining up in local teams with coded names such as “B” and “R” in a bid to camouflage their identity.
