Have you ever used a typewriter?

I learned to type on a manual typewriter.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being a proxy for my readers, asking questions they would like answered, researching and gathering information they will find useful.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Work in an Apple/Mac environment with IMac desktop, iPad Pro, iPhone 10R.

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I write well, have an insatiable curiosity, ask insightful questions, explain complex things clearly, and value fairness and justice.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The ongoing story of HIV-AIDS that I first began to document and report in 1986.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Specialize in a subject you’re passionate about.
