Best overall shot brand
Just curious. What is the general overall best recommended shot brand? I've used Lawrence brand all my reloading life, but now see Eagle and West Coast brands a lot.
Why am I a crappy backer?
Where is my shot going? When I don't think and just swing and shoot I break a lot of birds. When backing a partner I know I line my beads and follow trying to estimate a lead and flippin miss every time!
Need Help With Pair of Engraved Remington 1100's
I need help in properly identifying a pair of nicely engraved Remington 1100LW shotguns. Number 1- Remington Model 1100LW 28 gauge. Serial number L710583J. Number 2- Remington Model 1100LW .410 gauge. Serial number L752588H. Both have identically engraved receivers with the engraving extending up the barrels and heavily engraved trigger guards with silver inlay; nicely figured walnut stocks; 25" fixed SKEET choked barrels; white diamond inlayed grip caps; engraving is NOT signed by the engraver.

When it comes to powder are we that dumb ?
I have a pretty good supply of powder on hand that will last me a year or, perhaps, more. Still, I check powder availability and pricing on a regular basis. When, or how, did some of the powder manufacturers come to believe they could convince us to buy 14 oz. bottles of powder ? Last I checked there are 16 oz. in a pound. 🙄 So, just another way of charging the same, or even more, as a full pound and only providing the "short" pound. I suppose like everything else from candy bars to soft drinks.
Hodgdon Shotshell Reloading Puzzle
For the past few years, many of us migrated over to Hodgdon High Gun or Perfect Pattern hpowder for reloading 22’gauge shotshells. One thing we learned early on was that for 1-1/8 oz. loads, we had to use a 1 oz. wad of some description; (stack height issues, etc), Many of those loads have been submitted and approved for use over the past few years. So, I ordered and just received the 2026 Hodgdon Reloading Manual.

Sight blinder
I’m thinking I may have a cross firing issue. Not all the time but occasionally. I bought the Meadows Industries Sight Blinder and installed it on my K-80 trap special. The problem is, I still see the bead! I ve moved it back and forth with no results that accomplish anything. Any ideas. Maybe a taller blade would solve the problem. Your input would be appreciated.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank Remington in AR for their excellent customer service. Over the summer I experienced repeated issues with factory STS shells. In four flats of the same lot number, I had four squibs. This rate of failure is much too high for a premium competition shell. I had another 16 flats of the same lot number but there was no way I’d risk shooting these in competition and risk losing a target to another squib.
Long Waited Return…………..Nervous
I’ll try to keep it short. Last summer in August I tore my shoulder up in a freak incident working on something for one of my kids. Pretty bad with rotator cuff and bicep tendons torn. Put a real damper on my shooting, hunting and fishing along with everything thing else I have to do at home basically. Operation took place in March, 8 weeks later PT started. Still in it, probably be doing it for months because it’s not getting back to normal any time soon or ever I guess.

K80 O/U trap barrel on a K80 skeet receiver?
#1 · Hello all. I recently purchased a used K-80 skeet gun that comes in a four barrel set. I really love that gun. So now I was wondering about buying an O/U trap barrel and having it fitted to my skeet receiver, which also has my skeet stock. Has anyone of you ever done that or heard of it being done. I am wondering if the sight picture would line up on guns that are supposed to have such different POI's. Sort by #2 · A k80 is a k80. You can put any k80 barrels on the gun and same for stock set.
Green Bird ATA Registered Trap Shoot
The Richburg Rod & Gun Club will host an all green bird registered ATA trap shoot on Saturday, April 20th. Registration is at 9 am with shooting beginning at 10. We will throw all green Lawry Targets for all three events. Our background in Richburg is very conducive to green targets. Lewis classes on the single and handicaps, plus a Mid-50 on the HC. (You do not have to break 50 straight to win). Kitchen will be open for both breakfast and lunch. Great food at very reasonable prices.
Shoulder Surgery
#1 · Hello, Had shoulder surgery on Feb. 13th on my support hand side. In a sling for six weeks and surgeon said no shooting, golf, or motorcycle for six months. I had rotator cuff repair, bone spur, and cut and re-attach a bicep tendon. Has anyone had a similar surgery, and if so how long before you were 100%? Based on things so far seems like it's going to be a long time, and I'm not a very patient person ! Haha! Thanks.
Red Dot Powder
#1 · I went to my local gun shop yesterday and they had several 8lb jugs of Red Dot, the price tag scared the daylights out of me. $331.99 plus the tax. When will it stop? Alliant just keeps increasing their prices! They also had several 4lb. jugs of Blue Dot. Haven't seen it forever and didn't take note of the price. I am still loading on pre pandemic stores and don't know if I will continue to reload when they run out. JMO.
Red Dot in stock
#1 · Powder Valley has 8 lb Red Dot in stock. Promo was yesterday but gone this morning. They have several different Alliant powders in stock. Get with a buddy and split the Hazmat and shipping. Price is high but powder cost per shell is about $.11 each or $2.75 a box. With $48.00 lead, $11.00 wads and $60.00 primers you can have a premium shell for about $8.50 a box plus tax. I know they announced less product available for the upcoming year.
MEC 9000G Cam Adjustment
MEC 9000G machines require lowering the cam adjustment down to help close up the hole in the center of hull. I’m wondering if anyone out there has any experience with opening up the top of the slot slightly with a file to allow the cam to go a bit lower? With the finer grain powders I’ve been using lately, I’m having adjustment problems at station 5 and am wondering if anyone else has run across this and tried to open up the slot in the cam to try to give a bit more adjustment. K80 Logo Gun Value
So most of the comments relate to value Sure it would be nice to buy a Crown grade with wide hammers and coil springs for 6K but that isnt going to happen Personally I would not pay for coil spring or hammer updates... never broke one of either So that LOGO in question does have one barrel only and aftermarket chokes are a problem If the chokes were factory fixed or factory choke tubed AND the the top lever were close to the wood then it would be 6K private party sale Regards from Iowa Gene

#2 · no different than a K-80, all about configuaration, barrel length, etc. Go to Robert Paxton's website, and you will see that Kolar's don't last long in his shop. A 28" gun is hard to move, be it a Kolar, Kreighoff, or any other make. A modern, Stage II trigger, High rib kolar, with 30 or 32 inches, does as good as a K-80 on resale. I have a safe full of engraved K-80s that I just couldn't pass on because the price was so right. #3 · Got to disagree.
