IS north American boxing dead?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Jon Saxon, . First off I should say I'm British. The biggest buzz for me in the 80s/90s was getting VHS tapes delivered of US boxing. Since then the landscape has completely changed, HBO & Showtime are boxing dead. Harmony is limping on Amazon and a few weeks back we got a non contact version of the sport in Times Square which turned fans off. Meanwhile in the UK we get sold out stadiums and huge fights in Saudi.
Why is Eubank Jr the bad guy?
Conor Benn is way more easy to dislike. He’s arrogant, rude and isn’t even very good at boxing.
Eubank cracks Been in the face with an egg...
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Jon Saxon, . Insane behaviour, at the head to head he slapped Benn with an egg, the yolk right on the kisser. Spectacular delivery. Kabayel stops Dubois and easy...
All I know is Parker wouldn't have been a pushover for Dubious So he is lucky he got ill and will now get the ultimate goal, a Usyk rematch in the summer. Although I don't think Usyk is wise to take this fight. He knows he can win it...but what for, to prove to himself that he's on the slide so can make the retirement decision with utter conviction?
Parker weighing in at 267 lbs
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by dmt, . dmt said: ↑ Click to expand... Too heavy. Jon Saxon said: ↑ Too heavy. Click to expand... I agree. I like Parker. And he will probably win. But 267 lbs? Try that vs Usyk and he will box your head off. dmt said: ↑ Click to expand... That's 20 pounds heavier than his last fight. A dozen pounds heavier than when he lost to Joyce. Is he fat or juicing? He's never been remotely that big for a fight.
Gerald "The Jedi" Nobles
Nobles was nothing special. Fought the usual cannon fodder and had no legitimate wins over elite competition. Didn't have the dedication to stay in proper shape. Honestly, I can't believe there is a thread about him. He is of amost no historical significance.
Jerry Quarry vs. Ray Mercer
Should be a good fight if both fighters are well prepared. Mercer beat the likes of a Ossie Ocasio W8, a very determined Bert Cooper W12, Francesco Damiani KO9, a previously undefeated Tommy Morrison KO5, Jerry Halstead KO2, Jesse Ferguson W10 (and L10 in their first fight), Tim Witherspoon W10, and Darroll Wilson W10, among others. He also lost a very close decision to Lennox Lewis that some felt he should have won. He gave Holyfield a good fight as well. 6'1" with a 77" reach. He carried 238 Lbs.

Froch VS Calzaghe
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Capt, Jun 1, 2014. 46-0 Not even close. People are quick to write Calzaghe off but there is no doubt this would be a good contest (prime 4 prime) Calzaghe and Froch are both amazing at using their experience. They are clever, adaptable boxers with that sort of hard headed winning mentality. Calzaghe wins decision if he stays smart and boxes. Using his speed and movement.
Does anyone find Wilders massively fluctuating muscle mass a little suspect?
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Tankatron, Feb 21, 2020 at 11:36 PM. Apologies to all you Wilder fanbois but, I just have to throw this one out there. Several years ago there was an awful lot of speculation around how Joshua was able to put on 20-25 pounds of muscle mass over the course of several years. Now we have Wilder who goes from 205lb to a for him Whopping 231lb over the course of a handful of fights.
Gun to your head...ONE fight. What’s your all time favorite?
If I had to pick one, I gotta go with Hamed vs Kelley. What a fight!
Better entertainment than Tko6...THIS MAN....
