What was your first job as a journalist?
I began this journey as an 18 year old fresh out of high school at Penalty Box Radio broadcasting hockey games.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Not formally but i have definitely clacked the keys just to hear the sound of them hitting paper.
How is social media changing news?
It allows for audiences to see the news right as it is happening instead waiting for the evening news.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Jimmy Olsen of the Daily Planet in the DC universe, he is bold confident and not afraid to get the perfect shot of Superman and Louis Lane.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means to cover all events with the utmost professionalism and make my sources voices heard.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I love seeing when fans have created hashtags and fan cams for specific athletes, but if i had to choose
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
As soon as you get the idea email me and i will reply and we can get to the conversation started
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Adobe Creative Suite, Capcut, and Microsoft Word.
What's your favorite social network?
I personally enjoy twitter just for the sports journalism community within it. I love reading journalist's tweets from across the NHL.
Who do you wish followed you?
This question has a million answers depending on age but as of right now Lin Manuel Miranda. He has always had an impact on my life.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because i always wanted to be in the room where it happens.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I enjoyed my time in my Journalism class helping create the yearbook. We did not have a newspaper but i still got to interview students.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The Mayan Riviera Mexican Restaurant Breakfast Story. I enjoyed helping the owner cross language barriers to get his voice heard.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Always be professional, Early is on time, Never underestimate yourself, and remember you deserve to be here.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime but i love getting fresh news on a Monday morning right as i am starting my day.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The opportunity to cover the NHL Draft in 2023. This was a great opportunity and i hope to do it again soon.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
There is no bad pitches for me i take them all into consideration and then create an order on how to tackle them and when.
What's your favorite drink?
Personally i love a Sprite there is no caffeine but it is crisp refreshing and absolutely bubbly.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In front of a stove with the pan on medium heat cooking up a beautiful meal of steak and veggies.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I enjoy reading New York Times articles as well as sports content from my colleagues in sports media.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
People struggle to perceive a variety of things. I can only do my best to write in a clear and understanble tone.
