After three years of genocide: for Palestine to live, imperialism must die!
In response to the 7 October attack three years ago, Israel unleashed a genocide against Gaza. The whole world watched as the ‘civilised’ West put its ‘free press’, police, guns and money unconditionally behind ‘Israel’s right to defend itself.’ But that slaughter had consequences in the minds of millions of people – today “everybody hates Israel”, as Trump himself put it. Worldwide revulsion and the mass movements it provoked made outright support for Israel politically dangerous.
Dutch strike wave: welfare not warfare!
The Dutch government is trying to impose a budget which cuts billions from the welfare state to spend billions on imperialist rearmament. This week, thousands of workers from across the Netherlands – dockers, rail and transport workers, metalworkers, brewers, civil servants and cleaners – are striking to stop them. This is the biggest strike wave in decades. Its potential is enormous.
Buying time with Ukrainian blood: Burnham commits to prolonging the slaughter
Britain’s newly unelected Prime Minister Andy Burnham spent his first foreign visit in Kiev for Ukraine’s Independence Day.
Romanian government collapses after ten months of austerity – but Europe demands more!
In the 2025 Romanian elections, the establishment, backed by the EU politicians and intelligence services, pulled out all the stops to prevent the insurgent anti-EU populist Călin Georgescu from getting in. The first election was overturned, and Georgescu, the winner, was arrested and banned from running again on the pretext of alleged ‘Russian interference’.
Iran War destabilises, divides, and humiliates Europe
Economically devastating and politically destabilising, Trump’s war against Iran has catastrophic implications for Europe. It is a disaster that the declining and deindustrialising powers of the continent absolutely cannot afford. From the very outset, they were reluctant to get involved, with each country trying to keep Trump on side without getting directly involved in the war effort.
Bangladesh after the election: what happened to the July Revolution?
A year and a half ago, Bangladesh’s July Revolution inspired the whole world. After 15 years of Hasina’s dictatorship, the Bangladeshi masses – led by the students – flooded the stage of history and swept her and her Awami League away. Ecstatic hopes were vested in the interim government of Muhammed Yunus, who was supposed to usher in a new era of reform. A year and a half later, those hopes have been dashed. The Yunus government has achieved next to nothing. The country is in chaos.
Israel rampages towards catastrophe on the West Bank
Trump’s peace plan in Gaza is unacceptable to the Jewish supremacists in Israel’s ruling coalition. Even though it submits Gaza to an American-led occupation, even though it gives Israel a free hand to kill as it pleases, it holds out vague hope for a Palestinian state, at least in words. Their whole programme is to destroy any prospect of a Palestinian homeland. However, for all their threats, these settler parties have not withdrawn from government.
Largest protests in Tanzania’s history met with massacre
On 29 October, thousands of Tanzanians came out across the country to reject intensifying repression and an election without an opposition. With chants of “We do not want CCM”, demonstrators, led by the youth, stormed and burned police stations, polling stations, and the properties of regime cronies. Roads were blocked with burning tyres, and for three days, they clashed with police. These are by far the biggest and most intense protests in Tanzanian history.
Two years into the Gaza genocide: will Trump bring “eternal peace”?
Last week, US President Donald Trump stepped in to impose his 20-point peace plan to end the genocide in Gaza. He is now proposing that Gaza be handed over to an American-led transitional authority, chaired by himself, with the assistance of the destroyer of Iraq, Tony Blair. All the western and collaborationist Arab leaders are piling their hopes upon this peace.
Israel divides as Netanyahu wades deeper into Gaza genocide
This week, Israel erupted into a ‘nationwide day of stoppage’ after Netanyahu announced the conquest and occupation of Gaza, effectively signing the death warrants of the remaining hostages. It is estimated that as many as one million Israelis – 10 percent of the population – came out into the streets, backed by a large section of the establishment: Mossad chiefs, capitalists, and former prime ministers. And they are set to continue: the hostage families have called for another strike next Sunday.
"Ciudad humanitaria": la "solución final" de Netanyahu para Gaza
Desde que rompió el alto el fuego en marzo, Israel ha tenido como objetivo convertir la Franja de Gaza en un lugar inhabitable, llevarla al colapso total y, de ese modo, impedir que nadie se quede o regrese. La franja ha sido bombardeada como nunca antes. Vastísimas zonas se han transformado en campos de exterminio donde se dispara a matar sin previo aviso.
‘Humanitarian city’: Netanyahu's ‘final solution’ for Gaza
Since breaking the ceasefire in March, Israel has aimed to render Gaza uninhabitable, to drive it towards total collapse, and thereby to prevent anyone from staying or returning. The strip has been bombed like never before. Vast areas have been transformed into shoot-on-sight killing fields. Israeli-backed ‘American Aid’ distribution sites have been set up: slaughter houses, where dozens of unarmed Palestinians are gunned down daily while queuing for food and water.
History of the Revolutionary Press: The Great French Revolution
The Great French Revolution was accompanied by a revolution in the press. Whereas the Ancien Régime could boast only one daily paper, between 1789-97 over 1,300 new newspapers appeared, with a combined daily circulation of 130,000. The press allowed the revolution to communicate with the masses. The struggles within the National Assembly were broadcast to the entire country. These revolutionary newspapers were not just read, but read aloud: on street corners, in coffee houses, and in clubs.
Billionaires made $2 trillion last year while it’s austerity for the rest of us
Oxfam’s latest study into contemporary inequality – produced while the ruling class and their minions were rubbing shoulders in Davos – revealed that in 2024, each of the world's 2,640 billionaires increased their wealth by $2 million daily. Meanwhile, since 1990, there has been no improvement in the number of those living on less than $6.85 a day, which still represents 3,600,000,000 people.
Israel is ethnically cleansing northern Gaza
Having failed to destroy Hamas or return the hostages, it is becoming increasingly clear that Israel’s strategy has changed. The whole population remaining in northern Gaza, some 400,000 men, women and children, are being subjected to a policy of ethnic cleansing. While indiscriminate bombardment and sniping is being used to terrorise the population southward, the area is being deliberately starved and its medical infrastructure obliterated.
Mpox: nothing learned from COVID-19
A new strain of Mpox is tearing through Central Africa. Since the start of the year, 13 African countries have reported more than 22,800 Mpox cases and 622 deaths, which represents a 160 percent increase compared with the same period in 2023. This is likely only a fraction of the real number. What is clear is that, four years on, nothing has been learned from COVID-19. The recent explosion of the disease threatens a worldwide outbreak.

Telegram founder arrested: freedom of communication under attack!
On 24 August, Pavel Durov, the Russian billionaire owner of encrypted messaging app Telegram, was arrested by French police. Interrogated for four days, he was yesterday transported to a court and charged on all counts. Now, awaiting trial, he has been released on a €5 million bail, must visit the French police twice a week, and has been prevented from leaving France. A warrant is also out for the arrest of his brother, the co-founder of Telegram.
South Korea: chips are down as Samsung workers launch historic strike
Last week, a David-vs-Goliath struggle broke out at Samsung, the biggest Chaebol (conglomerate) in Korea, where workers launched the first indefinite strike in the company’s history. Samsung is one of the biggest corporations in the world, and alone accounts for 20 percent of South Korea’s GDP. It is the preeminent producer of memory chips and controls 42 percent of the global market for semiconductors, a vital commodity for the production of microprocessors.
Starmer’s government: Well and truly in the pocket of big business
“We are the party of business and workers,” states Sir Keir Starmer. But that is simply a cover for his pro-business government. Rachel Reeves, the new ‘Labour’ chancellor, previously worked for the Bank of England, and also for the banking and insurance company HBOS. She has made it clear that the new government will ruthlessly stick to Tory spending plans (“fiscal rules”). She is also a vice-chair of Labour Friends of Israeli Genocide.
How I became a communist – the stories of revolutionary Muslim and Asian women | The Communist
One of the defining political issues in this election – and of this entire period – is the war in Gaza. For millions, the question of Palestine has become a litmus test for judging candidates; a lightning rod for all the accumulated anger amongst the most oppressed and denigrated layers of society. On the one side are all the establishment parties and politicians, who have unanimously lined up behind Netanyahu and US imperialism, backing Israel’s genocidal massacre against the Palestinian people.
Starmer and Sunak: Both enemies of the Palestinian people
The death toll in Gaza is approaching 40,000, including more than 15,000 children killed. A further 10,000 are missing, buried in the rubble and unaccounted for. This brings the total number of Gazans killed close to 50,000. On top of this, over 85,000 have been injured. While this butchery continues unabated, on the West Bank a further 549 Palestinians have been killed – 135 of which have been children – and over 5,000 have been injured.
Why bourgeois democracy is a dictatorship of the rich
We’re told we live in a democracy, but whether we vote for Starmer or Sunak, we’re going to get pretty much the same thing. What’s democratic about that? We’re told we have rights like freedom of speech and a free press, but the government is banning protests and the newspapers are all owned by billionaires. What’s the point of these “rights” if they don’t actually mean anything? The fact is that the world is run by and for the rich. They decide everything and the rest of us don’t get a say.
Why capitalism can't escape the crisis
15 years after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the economy is once again taking a turn for the worse. The past decade and a half has seen capitalism go from disaster to disaster. Instability and chaos are the new normal. Whether it’s environmental crises, economic crises or political crisis, the world has lurched from one extraordinary event to another. But every measure the bourgeois take to solve one crisis only creates another.
Readers recommend: ‘Fallout’ – Capitalism never changes | The Communist
Fallout, on all counts, is a blast from start to finish. For both newcomers and die-hard fans of the franchise alike, this new TV series – available on Amazon Prime – delivers a cautionary tale of the ruthlessness of capitalism and its result: the end of the world. [WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS] Fallout is the first on-screen adaption of the eponymous post-apocalyptic, satirical RPG video game.
France: How can we stop Le Pen’s advance after Macron dissolves National Assembly?
The European elections in France swept away the parliamentary house of cards on which Macron’s government rested. The polls were a clear debacle for the government. Against a backdrop of massive abstention, the right-wing National Rally (RN) list received 31.5 percent of the votes, compared to less than half that for Macron’s list (14.6 percent).
Tory meltdown guaranteed: support pro-Palestine candidates - vote Fiona Lali
It is crystal clear that the Tories in this election are in complete meltdown. From PM Rishi Sunak’s rain-soaked launch, to his snub of D-Day veterans, almost every day brings some new calamity for the Tories. A swath of leading Tories are predicted to lose their seats, including, it seems, Jeremy Hunt, the Tory chancellor. Seventy-five Tory MPs, including many current and former cabinet ministers, are standing down – like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
The German Revolution of 1918
The events of the German revolution are some of the most tragic in the history of the world workers movement. One year after the Russian revolution, the German workers rose up, overthrew the Kaiser, and set up Soviets all over the country. But unlike the Russian revolution, where the Bolshevik party had been founded 14 years in advance, the revolutionary party in Germany, the Spartacus league, was founded one month after the revolution began.
A financial appeal: Help us build the Revolutionary Communist International!
Next week, the Revolutionary Communist International (RCI) will be founded. If you have not done so already, sign up here to participate in this historic event online. This new International will be a fighting organisation from the first day. And as Cicero once said, finances are the sinews of war.
What is Stalinism?
The events of the Russian Revolution were the greatest in all of human history. For the first time, the exploited masses fought back and won. The revolution birthed the most progressive state the world had ever seen, with the Communist International — led by Lenin and Trotsky — becoming a beacon of internationalism, inspiring workers and poor everywhere. And yet, within ten years, the Soviet Union had degenerated into a bureaucratic and totalitarian regime.
Fiona Lali campaign launch: “We have war criminals to bring down, and a world to win.”
Last night, around one hundred Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) activists gathered in east London for the launch of Fiona Lali’s election campaign in the Stratford and Bow constituency. The excitement in the room was palpable. “This is exactly what is needed,” said one attendee from Mile End. “There’s such a vacuum in politics right now. Ordinary people feel disgusted by the Tories and Labour.
“Rafah is burning”: Civilians massacred as IDF bombs refugee camp
Millions of people around the globe collectively reeled in horror on Monday after an IDF airstrike laid waste to a tent camp for displaced civilians in Rafah, killing at least 45 people. Social media is filled with images of charred and dismembered men, women and children, murdered while they slept. Lenin once wrote that capitalism is horror without end: in Gaza, those words are being spelt out in the language of fire and blood for all the world to see.
Overthrow the war criminals! Build the Palestine movement!
Communists are often slandered as bloodthirsty and violent, but our accusers, the capitalists, are responsible for millions of deaths across the world. In this episode of Marxist Voice, Ellen Morton will explain the difference between their morals and ours.
The Communists Are Coming! How YOU can promote the RCI founding conference
A new Revolutionary Communist International (RCI) will launch in June. In the run-up, we need YOU to go out and paint every street, in every neighbourhood, in every nation RED. Read on for all the tools you need to announce the coming of the RCI in your area, workplace, school or college; to win new comrades to our ranks; and to strike fear into the hearts of the bourgeois politicians, bankers and bosses.
Are communists amoral?
Communists are often accused of being bloodthirsty and violent provocateurs, who would stop at nothing to achieve their malevolent aims. But our accusers are the same people responsible for the slaughters in Gaza, Sudan, the Congo and countless others. In this episode of Marxist Voice, Ellen Morton will explain the difference between their morals, the morals of the bloody and barbarian capitalist system, and ours, the morals of the slaves in struggle to end slavery.
Under a false flag: The Moscow Trials cover-up | The Communist
Instead of telling the truth, the leaders of the so-called Communist Party of Britain (CPB) attempt to downplay the horrors of the Moscow Trials of the 1930s, where Lenin’s closest collaborators, together with countless others, were systematically murdered by Stalin. The main defendant at the trials, Leon Trotsky, Lenin’s closest collaborator, was subsequently assassinated by a Stalinist agent in 1940.
US imperialism fails to curb Houthi attacks in Red Sea
Beginning last November, the Yemeni Houthi movement has effectively strangulated maritime traffic coming through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, much to the dismay of US imperialism. Despite hastily assembling an international coalition to fight the Houthis – including secret partners among the Arab states – the US-UK mission is showing itself to be a costly failure. The Bab-el-Mandeb Strait once carried 15-20 percent of world trade through its waters.
Race And Class: Do We Need A 'Black Marxism'?
‘Black Marxism: The Making of the Black Radical Tradition’, by Cedric Robinson, has featured in countless anti-racist reading lists across schools and universities. The title suggests it will be a synthesis of Marxism and the Black struggle. In reality, it is an attempt to divide the two entirely. What is the ‘Black Radical Tradition’, and how does the Marxist method apply to it?
The crisis in British industry and the need for fighting leadership
Over the past decade or so, the already-weakened state of British industry and infrastructure has declined even further. Major closures and accompanying job losses are taking place in every sector: from steel and transport to car-manufacturing. Infrastructure – such as rails, roads, water supplies, and the National Grid – is being left to rot. In each case, the costs to modernise and remain competitive are more than the capitalists are willing to pay.
Frantz Fanon's 'Wretched Of The Earth': A Marxist Critique
Fanon has been used by academics as a basis for a whole series of confused and reactionary ideas about “de-colonisation of the mind”. However, “Wretched of the Earth” is a book about revolutionary struggle against colonialism, arms in hand.
Palestine protests sweep UK universities: Kick imperialism off campus!
As Israel launches its attack on Rafah, a wave of student encampments has swept UK universities over the past week. Inspired by the Palestine solidarity encampments in the United States, students in Britain have taken action at over 14 campuses and counting. The Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) fully supports this bold action taken by students.
RCP founding congress: 10,000 communists wanted!
While Netanyahu was making his final preparations to invade Rafah, and as student protestors were setting up their tents on campuses across the country, a momentous event in the history of the British communist movement was taking place in London: the launch of the Revolutionary Communist Party.
How the communists in Britain are preparing for power
We resolve to found the Revolutionary Communist Party. We do so standing on the brink of the most tempestuous years ever faced by British capitalism. The bourgeoisie plan to navigate the rising storm with barbarous attacks on the working class. Detonations of popular anger are inevitable, but will dissipate like steam unless channelled by proletarian organisations and directed against their root cause: the capitalist system.
The crimes of British Imperialism
The history of the British Empire is littered with horrendous crimes. From the partitions of India and Ireland, to the suppression of the Mau Mau uprising, to the violent Jallianwala Bagh massacre, to its murderous role in the Easter Rising and Bloody Sunday; it is impossible to mention all the brutalities of British imperialism. Many brave anti-imperialists have fought and died for the cause of expelling British imperialism from their countries. It is our duty to learn from this history.
Scottish government on the brink – SNP stares into the abyss | The Communist
The 2021 Bute House Agreement in Scotland led to the formation of the first government within the UK to include Green ministers. Now it has been unceremoniously torn up by Scottish First Minister and SNP leader Humza Yousaf. This marks a “reset” for the Scottish government, according to Yousaf. But all we see is the growing crisis within Scotland’s governing party, the SNP.
‘Militant’ trade union leaders and the coming Labour government
“The working class is back!” So declared Mick Lynch, RMT general secretary, in the summer of 2022, as a year-long strike wave began to rock the country. After forty years of defeats and retreats, the working class in Britain had begun to wake up and flex its muscles. And during this upheaval, a layer of more militant leaders came to the fore of the trade union movement.
Scottish nationalism in crisis
The powerful rise of the Scottish independence movement once struck fear into the British ruling class, threatening to break the United Kingdom and raise the rebellious spirit of the working class. Nearly ten years since the referendum that unleashed opposition to Tory Britain, and raised the Scottish National Party to unprecedented support, the movement is at a crossroads.
Launching the Revolutionary Communist Party – Three weeks until lift off! | The Communist
When you take a look around, what do you see? Climate change, crumbling schools, sky-rocketing inequality, and falling living standards. A whole generation growing up in Britain today is therefore asking themselves: Is this really it? As communists, we aim to answer this burning question in the minds of workers and youth. No, this is not it. But if we want to bring around real change, we have to get organised. Different ideas float around in society about how to tackle these problems.
The limitations of direct action
The capitalist system is in a deep global crisis. Its decline has devastating consequences, not only in terms of social and economic conditions, but also the destruction of the planet. This is shaking millions of people to political life and it has driven an increase in political activity of all kinds. In particular, some are drawn towards the methods of ‘direct action’ and ‘civil disobedience’.
