David conquers Goliath in showdown at Sherbeck Field
Where nearly everything was going right, the Hornets’ season came to an abrupt end when their final kick landed short of the goal. The No. 15 seed Santa Barbara City College came into Sherbeck Field Saturday night and came away with an upset win by way of penalty kicks 6-5 in the first round of the CCCAA State playoffs over the No. 2 seed Fullerton College. Vaqueros freshman defender Uli Sevilla came into Saturday’s matchup only scoring one goal in his young career.
ANOTHER SHUTOUT FOR FC

FC's victory puts the team at 9-0-1 overall in the Orange Empire Conference securing at least a share of the title with four games left in the regular season. It was the 8th time this season that the Hornets shutout an opponent and it was the 6th time for an OEC opponent.

HORNETS OVER HAWKS
Fullerton, the No. 1 team in the state, remains unbeaten after a solid 2-0 road-win at Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday. It was a scoreless first half as both the Hawks and Hornets sized each other up with physical play and strong defense. An offensive awakening for FC in the second half decided the match as Misael Gonzalez kicked in his conference-leading 13th and 14th goals of the season. Both unassisted shots were knocked in within minutes of each other (65th and 67th marks).
