Lawyers advising on anti-corruption issues should note a recent conviction under the Bribery Act 2010 following a guilty plea by Sweett Group plc, says Jonathan Titmuss of Hardwicke Chambers.

Part 2: The Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill
To print this article, all you need is to be registered or login on Mondaq.com. This is the second part in this two-part series co-authored by members of the Property and Insolvency Teams at Gatehouse Chambers considering some of practical difficulties with the Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill 2021-22 as currently drafted. Part 1 can be found here. Having been introduced by the Government on 9 November 2021, the Bill passed through the Committee stage in the House of Commons in late 2021.
Modern Warfare's multiplayer maps are broken
With Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward have delivered a fresh, feature rich soft reboot of their ever lasting franchise. But despite the broad selection of game modes and grounded approach, many of the multiplayer maps at launch feel fundamentally unbalanced. Regardless of your affinity for the Modern Warfare series, it is a generally accepted rule that being on the receiving end of relentless camping tactics is a frustrating occurrence within a competitive shooter.
The Outer Worlds sells a ton, and Rockstar mess up
In our latest news roundup, Obsidian Entertainment have absolutely smashed sales expectations for The Outer Worlds, Rockstar have borked another PC port, and The Division 2's lack of Survival mode is a missed opportunity Making The Cheddar It's always a treat when a development studio breaks away from the trappings of established franchises and finds success with their own IP.
Hopes and dreams for the future of Battlefield
EA and DICE have been plagued by a litany of issues surrounding two of their biggest franchises this gen. Battlefront 2 made the headlines for all the wrong loot box related reasons, and Battlefield V hasn't fared much better It's a fairly miserable state of affairs when every new announcement of free content or theoretically exciting update is met with some form of collective irritation from an ever vocal fanbase.
Xbox One affected Halo Infinite's visuals, but not its ambition
The response to Halo Infinite continues to run a gamut of emotion, while broader questions are being asked of Microsoft's PR strategy and the nature of their cross gen release support. But Infinite's ambition should not be dismissed. We think it's fair to acknowledge that there's value in questioning the close up texture work of an ugly Brute, or the seemingly unpolished draw distance of a supposedly next gen title, but these criticisms are all rooted in visual fidelity.
Hands on preview: Hotshot Racing - A Summer smash ready to go
Hotshot Racing is at first glance an unassuming indie racer, and a visual throwback to 90's arcade classics. But the suite of gameplay options, pitch perfect handling, and rock solid performance has catapulted this into essential territory. Although the devil is quite often in the details, there's very much something to be said for stripping away needless exposition or narrative context, and diving straight into the action (a lesson The Crew and Need for Speed desperately needs to learn).
Microsoft didn't break a promise, but their messaging lacks clarity.
As we digest the extravagance of Game Pass' insane value proposition and Geoff Keighley's choppy stream, there's a lot of conversation following the Xbox Games Showcase concerning whether Microsoft have already broken their cross gen promise. There's plenty of prior references we could cite that define Microsoft's position on cross gen releases and bridging the gap between Xbox One and Series X.
Xbox Games Showcase
Regardless of your brand allegiance or controller preference, any conversation surrounding an upcoming console launch boils down to one inescapable truth: it's all about games. Here are our bets and dreams for the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase. Microsoft have given themselves the best possible chance to succeed with Xbox Series X, thanks to regular messaging, a rambunctious approach to studio acquisitions, and a doubling down on value for money services.
Hands on preview: Hyper Scape
Hyper Scape may seem like a frivolous endeavour in a world dominated by Fortnite, Warzone and Apex, but look a little deeper and you'll find a game making great strides in a number of key areas. We go hands on with the newly launched Open Beta. Judge something purely on aesthetics and Hyper Scape would appear to be an amorphous mashup of any number of franchises, but there's also key points of differentiation here that are so well implemented.
Part 2 bravely challenges real world prejudice
Much of the discourse surrounding Naughty Dog's latest release has seen a paradigm shift away from reasonable critical thinking, in favour of vitriolic accusations and the lowest ebb of Internet behaviour. For those of us with an open minded critical eye and a willingness to listen to arguments we disagree with, this aggressive minority continue to behave as though they're victims of underhand manipulation.
Hands on preview: The Persistence
The Persistence made waves as a PSVR horror fest, getting players cautiously navigating a decrepit sci fi environment with danger lurking at every turn. We go hands on with a preview build of the upcoming console port, dropping Summer 2020. Following a fairly gentle tutorial, The Persistence wastes no time throwing you into a blender of taught encounters, uninviting corridors, and slamming doors which we're somewhat ashamed to admit provided far too effective jump scares.
Streets of Rage 4
Streets of Rage 4 shoulders the weight of nostalgic expectation from a fanbase patiently awaiting its hotly anticipated arrival. Diverging too far from the formula would be a dangerous play, but thankfully, this absolutely hits the mark. You can't talk about a sequel like this without acknowledging the outrageous pedigree of the franchises past; there have been no mainline entries since Streets of Rage 3 dropped for the Mega Drive way back in 1994.
Review: Moving Out
Moving Out revels in slapstick and improvised chaos, charging you with extracting various unwieldy household items in pursuit of accolades and bragging rights. It's also exponentially more fun when you're lumbering around with a friendly crew. It's always a treat to encounter a title that places the fun at the forefront; nothing beats the pop of a toaster's power cord or a well timed box through the window extraction.
Review: Gears Tactics
Gears Tactics is a curious proposition, but one that now feels surprisingly essential given the splendid efforts of developer Splash Damage (in cahoots with franchise custodians The Coalition). Rev up your chainsaw for a turn based good time. You could be forgiven for questioning the viability of this turn based spin off; Gears has long since defined itself as a snappy cover shooter, with a Gnasher-tastic competitive scene that favours twitch reactions and grandiose plays.
Hunting Grounds Review
Predator: Hunting Grounds provides solid ground for asymmetric multiplayer action, with a license that screams potential, but it doesn't always hit the mark. Some half baked ideas and presentation issues sully an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Chimera Squad Review
XCOM: Chimera Squad has turned around from announcement to release in record time, dropping in amongst a sea of delays and uncertainty to deliver a consistent, subtly tweaked take on turn based strategic action that ticks all the right boxes. It's vital to acknowledge that, despite the [welcome] inclusion of truly alien squadmates, character specific abilities, and the punchy new Breach mechanic, this is still the XCOM game you're looking for.
Review: MotoGP 20
MotoGP 20 is the culmination of years of iteration from developer Milestone, a feature rich and polished effort that places renewed emphasis on customisation that affords you more control than ever before. Within moments of booting up, you're greeted with a sumptuous buffet of content that, after some initial tweaking of settings and preferences, is pretty much unlocked from the get go. It's one of the most pleasing aspects of MotoGP 20 when compared to other similar racing and sporting titles.
Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC Review
Borderlands 3 - Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock is every bit the expansive and content rich DLC that hoards of vault hunters have been clamouring for. Sharply written, densely packed, and an absolute blast. One of the standout elements of this latest expansion is Gearbox's effective straddling between indulging fan pleasing returns, and forging ahead with new material.
actor, The Last of Us: Part 2
We caught up with Troy Baker, one half of Retro Replay's blend of improvised insanity, at the Golden Hinde in London for an in-depth discussion about his approach to cultivating a positive online community, and the many aspects of his fascinating career. He is a name synonymous with the gaming industry's narrative ambition; an actor of impressive calibre whose work you've likely encountered many times without realising it.
