NON-COMPETE clauses in employment contracts are a contentious issue. They are meant to safeguard the employer’s legitimate interests, but, if used unreasonably, may stifle job mobility and distort the labour market, creating an imbalance of power in the employer-employee dynamic. New Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests: Implementation, Implications, and Practical Tips
Introduction Following the widespread adoption of telecommuting and staggered working hours amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the job market in Singapore has seen an increasing demand for flexible work arrangements ("FWAs").
Characterization and FEA Simulation for a HIFU Phantom Material | Environmental XPRT
Abstract Results are presented for a new formulation of HIFU phantom material made with polyacrylamide gel and Bovine Serum Albumin. This formulation closely matches the acoustic attenuation as well as the velocity and impedance of tissue, while providing a uniform and optically transparent medium. The phantom material turns permanently opaque whenever the material achieves a temperature greater than 70°C.
Characterization and FEA Simulation for a HIFU Phantom Material | Environmental XPRT
Abstract The membrane style hydrophone commonly used to calibrate lithotripters is found to have a fast rise time, mediocre sensitivity but a very short life span. We propose a new style of hydrophone here that overcomes the longevity problem by employing a spot poled ceramic active element backed by a matched acoustic impedauce. This robust hydrophone is shown to have a fast rise time (e 50 ns) together with a high sensitivity.

Singapore Moves Another Step Closer to Workplace Anti-Discrimination Legislation
Introduction Singapore's journey towards fair workplace practices began over two decades ago. The Tripartite Guidelines on Non-Discriminatory Job Advertisements were introduced in 1999. In 2006 the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices ("TAFEP") was established, and in 2007 the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices ("TGFEP") were introduced with the aim of protecting employees against various forms of workplace discrimination.

Wrongful Dismissal Arising from Terminating Employees with Cause - Cautionary Note for Employers | Lexology
Singapore February 16 2021 Introduction Two recent Singapore High Court decisions are stark reminders that the summary dismissal of an employee can cause serious legal issues for a company if not handled well, and can result in wrongful dismissal claims. This is particularly so if it is unclear whether the employee had conducted himself in such manner as to have repudiated the employment contract or engaged in misconduct, amongst other things.
