Reporter at a local community paper.

To find the story and accurately paint it.

Without any hype, honestly.

The people who could fund my projects.

I worked for our community newspaper when I was a sophomore in college, as a reporter.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My interview with James Baldwin, and profile of Pedro Almodóvar.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Afternoons.
What's your favorite drink?
A homemade margarita.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Out and about.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Guardian, the Washington Post, the Nation etc.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That "it's complicated," but the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or the civil war in Syria, or—you name the place—isn't complicated.
