Why did you become a journalist?
Because writing is my passion, and journalism allows me to constantly find new inspiration for my work that can reach people instantly.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did! I was Film and TV Editor for 3 years, writing 3000 words a month, designing my own pages, and commissioning and editing other writers.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
At university I wrote a piece standing up for the cinema experience, and it was really popular among the student crowd. That was a big deal.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
He who laughs last, laughs longest, and he who doesn’t give up on journalism will eventually make it. Also, don’t call yourself ‘aspiring’.
What's your favorite drink?
Classic cuppa.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
The cinema (in non-pandemic times). At the moment - bedroom watching films!
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
EMPIRE Magazine.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That big studios pay us for good reviews. And that when we give Studio films bad reviews it’s because we’re out-of-touch snobs.
